There is a lot of history...
Thread reported for trolling one of the best posters on this site.
fucking red coat.
Stop making these idiotic threads.
I greatly enjoy that the NFL's plan to get non-Americans to like football is to export the worst possible version of it.
Very smart Roger.
I know this is a joke thread but...
There's certainly an appetite for it back home, and any team is better than nothing, even the Jags. Having lived in London most my life and been to a couple of the NFL games played there, most fans already have really strong ties to existing teams. The game got huge over there in the 80s with free-to-air coverage at a time where football (sorry, soccer) was plagued by fan violence and teams were being kicked out of European competition. I remember watching my first Bears game as a 7- or 8-year-old for example. So, best case scenario, they'll get a lot of fans who root for them as their second team. If the Raiders ever visit, it'll be a home game for them! Same goes for a number of other teams.
Ultimately that probably doesn't matter though as Wembley (90,000 seats) will be sold out every game. I've no idea how many fans turn up to watch the Jags every week, but can't imagine it's anywhere near that much. I mean, who would?
Edit: shit, turns out they get more than the Bears. Had no idea Soldier Field is the smallest ground in the NFL. Didn't they only rebuild it like the years ago?
