Figured, but was wondering for specifics to see which angle you were taking.
its just one of many variables to my reaction.
hawkposter can say all he wants about the 7% increase since the last lockout. We are in a different time in national econ virus. It is usually the young generation that believes all will be ok, and thats fine, but a 2nd lockout so soon for a league that sucks to begin with is not a good thing. The NHL made strides with their marketing since the last lockout and certain teams rising in big markets also helped....but when you take a couple steps forward, a 2nd lockout you will be taking more steps back.
There are also fans that believe all will be ok because they are in denial because they love the sport so much that it interferes with their judgement. The same fans who probably live and breathe hockey and no other sport.
I make no apologies for hating soccer, especially the MLS...but the way they are marketing and growing their brand they could at some point pass hockey (nhl) that is.
There is only so much marketing you can do, like the amazing winter classic, but even that is getting old. how do you rise above that? hockey on the moon? they are running out of ideas, running out of time, and running the league into the ground.
