Don't be surprised if that doesn't last.

as tickets sales have increased by 30% from last year, it will continue IMO, if they throw out a competitive team people will show up.

plus most of it will last since they are locked into the core players for a while.

I don't see how they will keep adding 100+ mill in total contracts every offseason.

Dews meant they will have a consistently high payroll.

i know it says Cubs have spent over 20 mil but taking away a player option they have not. just 11.5 mil after 30 mil came off the books.

63 million plus 5 million for pena next year to start next years offseason isnt bad, plus whatever arb players there are.

so 68 million on the low end isnt bad, they could have another 60 million to spend, but it is doubtful that ricketts will

We don't really have a long enough track record on his habits to judge that right now.

all im saying is i wouldnt buy into the "oh i met wife in the bleachers" die hard routine.

Its a nice story.. While I can agree that it might not be the optimal fan like some of us are on here..

It doesn't mean that he can't be a good owner.
