Twice in the past two weeks I've gotten 20 minutes from home and overcome with fear that the garage door is open. I want to install a wireless camera to my back garage wall so I can simply check the garage door with an app from my phone.

Any suggestions on this?

One was kinda neat called the garage butler. It closes automatically after 3-60 minutes for about $60, but no video check.

I'm looking for something that you described also, and I found out about Dropcam. I haven't done much research on it yet, but it looks like it fits the bill.

One of my friends bought a few dropcams for his house. Pretty cool product from what I saw of it.

I would be more worried about actually securing the door than monitoring it, FWIW. Most people don't have anything actually locking their garage door in place.

This is a new product shipping this summer and it was featured on Shark Tank this past season if I remember right. http://elocksys.com/

saw the episode. no burgalar is breaking into our homes. best home in my area is 225 and its a younger family area. not worth the risk for maybe 500-1000 per house of stealable stuff

Physical security slows down a person intending to do harm. It's not always theft. Think of the times that your family is home without you. Alarms let you know they're in. Locks keep them out or slow them down.

If you have wifi smarthome.com has a camera that you can view on your phone. Insteon starter kit $79.99. It's a baby monitor.

Very neat. I was hoping for less, but this maybe the cost of peace of mind.

Let us know if you end up buying it. Would like to hear from someone with first hand experience.

I have an App that can tell me anything I want to know about my home. Is it on fire? Is there a package on my porch? and yes even is the garage is open?

The App is called ...

I use it to call my neighbor across the street! ;)

if your neighbor is a dick then Drop cam looks like the best option though.
