OK, So my Dad needs a gift for my kids and we have decided to have him give my girls a trip to the Dells. No one in my family has ever been there. I am leaning on Wilderness Lodge for a place to stay. I could use your help to make this trip the best it could be.

1. Is the Wilderness Lodge the place to stay?
2. What are the top five things you would want to do there?
3. What are the five things you were disappointed in doing?
4. What is the best places to eat?

My daughters are 9 and 12 so I appreciate any help.

Haven't been since I was a kid but remember really enjoying the Dells. Can't help with advice due to length of time but hope they have a great trip.

I enjoyed the Dells as a kid. Go Karting and water parks were what it was all about for me. If your kids would be interested in that stuff there's no shortage of that. Don't know about the Wilderness Lodge but it's probably good.

Haven't been in 30 years, so I have nothing helpful to add.

However on a much less constructive note:

It sounds like you are using your kids to weasel a vacation for yourself out of your dad.

W.D. hasn't changed much. It still smells like a cedar mill, and all the souvenirs you saw 30 years ago are still there.

My vote is for Cruisin' Chubbys. It even has an adults only campground/cabin rentals right across the street. It's actually a lot more impressive than one would expect (I was surprised, at least).

I appreciate the help, anyone have something they remember liking? I was told one where you can feed alligators with meat or mice or rats in a controlled environment. I think my kids might like that one.
