This is an interesting twist on the abortion thing. The doctor told her termination was the best option as the twins likelyhood of survival is low, but she wants to have them, regardless of whether or not their early demise is the most likely result. his is kind of a reverse situation where people are trying to push an abortion on her.

my opinion? Its her choice she can do whatever she wants. Although as someone said in the comments section, I find it funny she is unmarried and pregnant yet has such strong catholic beliefs.

Here we go again.

Since NONE of us were in the room to witness the conversation firsthand, saying the doctor was "pushing" an abortion on her is a stretch.

That said, she had a horrible decision to make, and she made it. Some will prostitute her out as a hero, others will say "how the hell could you do something like that?"

She made the choice, and I respect her for that. Other than that, it's none of my business.

from the article:

“The doctor said the babies won’t make it, and termination is the best option,” Amanda said. “I broke down. I wasn’t thinking about abortion, I was thinking, ‘Will they survive?’ Not ‘I want them to die.’ ”

I said people, not the doctor, which from her comments people are being pretty assholic to her for her decision, in calling her selfish, i.e. pushing their opinion on her. A little pot meets kettle. As in my opinion abortion in itself is pretty selfish, whether I care if people can make a choice to do it or not.

I hear her, but I don't agree at all. My thought would be this: if there is no or almost no chance of their survival or ability to lead anything closely resembly a 'normal' life, why put them through that, or put yourself through however many more months of carrying them?

Just to have a clean conscience that you didn't personally end their existence? That seems way too wrought with emotion and not nearly enough rational thought. It seems really self centered too.

But as they say, it's her right to choose.

It's like that lady who was told that her baby did not have a brain, gave birth to it anyway and cared for it for 3 months before it died. People do strange things.

Granted, you in the anti abortion camp think that doctors that perform abortions are less than human, but I've got news for you. They're STILL PEOPLE!

I didn't see anything that said if there was a possibility of saving one of the babies. I would never want to be in a situation where I had to choose one life over the other. I have heard of people who get pregnant with multiples getting advised to terminate some of the pregnancies. I just don't know how you would choose. There are many things to consider and everyone makes the best choices they can in a difficult situation. I just don't know what I would do in her situation, I would just be thankful to have a choice.

And then she had Alex Burrows?
