Let's talk about this. Seeing that we have a few members who currently (Fisch ) work at a store, or posters who have in the past.

My first job was at a Kroger when I turned 16. I started off as a bag boy then moved to cashier. After a year and a half they moved me to dairy & frozen. Easily some of the best memories I've had in my life. We had a laid back boss and a real cool manager. They wouldn't care what we did as long as the work was done. There was a group of us that would hang out at work and screw around.

I can remember a few times where we'd go out for carts, 3 of us, and push in a row of 100 and then come in and goof around. We have a fantasy football league that we started and is currently still running, on Sunday afternoons me and the manager would watch the games and shoot the shit.

There were soo many good stories and memories.

In October 2009 we got a new boss & district managers. Turned out the guy was real strict... In September 2011, our store was bought out by Schnucks, and I quit. The end.

I worked at Kroger when I was 17. Boss really liked me, asked me if I would transfer to a kroger near WKU when I went to school, and could transfer back and work the summer at that one...I told him I was promised a job making more money, but would be interested if they could match the pay...he was later talking to the asst manager in his office, which was connected to the break room...and called me a handful of not-so-appropriate names while I was on break. Classy little fella, huh?

oh, I quit.

We scan the items out and throw them away.

Not really. I didn't care if they dumpster dived, their problem not mine.

I worked at Giant when i was in high school and for a little bit after. Best job ive ever had to be honest. Granted I was making 14 dollars an hour at the time so thats probably why I thought it was so great. Started out pushing carts, worked my way inside stocking shelves and within 6 months they trained me as a cashier. Great people to work with and really laid back.

I worked at Kmart after I worked at Kroger...I was in the "pantry" (or, food section). I was sick as hell one day, and they told me I couldn't leave b/c someone else had already left and I had to work through it. I said "for a minimum wage job? really?" and gave 'em the :flipa: and walked out the door.

I work at a Gerritys. Started out in Grocery (pulling isles, carts, garbages, bagging) Done produce a few times, done cleaning a few times, and now I'm basically a dairy guy sometimes reverting back to grocery. Rarely I'll do morning grocery which is filling the store, and frozen aswell.

I think everyones first job was the best of their life. I know mine was. I worked in the kitchen of a nuring home with 3 of my better friends and a half dozen other kids our same age. I can't believe we got any of those old people fed and watered on time, or at all.

Haha no, I guess I should have been more specific. Once they trained me up as a cashier thats what I started getting. But I wasnt a full time cashier so did spend alot of time pushing carts unless they needed me inside for other reasons. But since I was "trained" as a cashier they had to pay me like one.
