An interesting explanation of alternative voting. If you can spare a few minutes, this is an idea to help break us out of the simple 2 party system, and would most likely end the "voting for the lesser of 2 evils" bullshit that dominates our voting system.

Thoughts please.

I have no problem with the concept, but they can't even count the votes properly now. I can't begin to imagine what a fiasco that would be and all the shady shit that would go on.

This is intriguing but I can see a couple of problems. One the ballot could be confusing for some voters. Like all those older people in Florida. Also this system may make campaigns work harder but it also really helps the major parties. George H.W. Bush would have won in 1992 with this system. And Al Gore would have won in 2000. But it is a good debate topic.

Not disagreeing about it may confuse some folk. But apparently so does punching a hole through paper, as alluded to in you post. Would Bush Sr. have won in 92? Would Perrot have been our President in 96? Who knows.

I wouldn't mind seeing this on a local level. Maybe for Governor of a state.

Go check out Ireland, I believe this is kind of how their system shakes down. Only much more complicated.

I am not saying it ain't complicated. However, when picking someone to lead us, and ostensibly the free world, shouldn't it be a bit complicated? A bit more rigorous? This system, seemingly would actually put the person most of us actually wanted.

I say we flip a coin. Not like there's any such thing as "the best candidate" anyways.
