I understand what KA was meant to do and think he was still a value add for a rookie QB. Realistically if Bears dont have him they have fuckin Deandre Carter getting 100 targets. So i'm cool with the gamble/spend there.

Bates trade has pretty much been a disaster from the word go.

no issue with either

keenan allen was acquired before they knew they would get rome.

They certainly needed another WR. Keenan was essentially calebs coach most of the season since our coaching staff was trash and MIA

maybe(big maybe) he's healthy this year and can provide depth. If so thats fine for a 5th

I have no faith he will stay healthy tho. But at the time in theory both trades were solid

It would be great if he could because hes getting paid and taking up a key roster slot to be the first iOL off the bench at this point. A big part of why the iOL was so bad last year was his inability to get on the field. I hope for the best but if I was Poles i would have cut him and taken the $5M cap space because im not betting on a hail mary stem cell surgery to fix an arthritic shoulder issue that US medical science currently has no answer for.

Keenan Allen wasn't great, but just as effective as Moore, Odunze or Kmet last year.

Draw your own conclusions from that.

Thoughts on those 100 targets being spread around between Rome and Kmet? Especially considering Keenan Allen was running routes Rome should've been running anyways considering Keenan is slow and has that heel issue, and Kmet wasn't used hardly at all.

I only use my left hand to touch myself and never my right hand. I could use my right hand as I am right handed but I just don't use it.

Does that mean my right hand is defective?

They can still cut him.

MY guess is they will go into camp and if he looks like he's still hurt they will cut his ass.

People get worked up about picks every year at this time. "Oh man, if only we had this guy!"

We drafted an OT with last year's 3rd round pick and most people here have written him off entirely already. Most people here would want another edge to play in front of Austin Booker (5th). Most people here want another DT to play in front of Gervon Dexter (2nd) and certainly Zacch Pickens (3rd). Some people here think of CB as a sneaky need because all we have outside of Johnson and Gordon are Stevenson (2nd) and Smith (5th). People universally want another RB to play over Roshon Johnson (4th). Most people here want a replacement for Braxton Jones (5th) while Velus Jones (3rd) is gone and Dominique Robinson (5th) sucks.

I liked the Allen move even if it didn't turn out as hoped for. I never liked the Bates move because he was an obvious cut candidate.

That said, both players are likely better than any of the guys Poles would pick based on his drafting track record.

Think that would be great but its not something the Eberflus/Getsy Bears do without KA. You saw what Getsy did with KA on the sideline @HOU and @IND and its Carter getting 5 targets a game.

Everyone knows the going rate for a player with an arthritic shoulder is a 5th round pick.

Better than what pretty much every GM would draft.

4th and 5th rounders typically suck. The hit rate is so low even for backups.

So a 4th round pick for a 1 year mediocre rental is what you are saying is okay? Even in hindsight?

I'd prefer it to the direct alternative of replacing Allen with Carter, yes. Unless you want to build a hypothetical where the Bears get a different WR3 somewhere since KA was never traded for.

If Poles hadn't been here with Fields I'd say they were the right moves.
We wouldn't have needed Bates if Poles wasn't an idiot. Allen would've produced if Poles wasn't an idiot.

But the picks don't really matter because so far Poles has been an idiot. What would we have got with those picks a WR who can't catch and a LT everyone said was great up until a contract gets mentioned?
