shingo,hermanson,jenks. all 3 were closers in 05. if you can get someone to give a little too much for a young arm under control with avg stuff...you do it all day. bullpens are a crap shoot.

Who cares if it runs out of arms. Raise your hand if you think there is even a 3% chance of us finishing .500 this year? There's no need for them. I am not saying you actively ship Reed out for any junk, but you do ship him out for a good prospect on the ofensive side or potential Starting Pitcher 1-3.
Please just look at how easy it is to get closers. They are like kickers in the NFL

Closers that have more than 3 or 4 good seasons don't come around often. In fact, Rivera might be the only closer to have a whole career full of success in the last 10-20 years.
Closers come and go so easily. Why not trade Reed when his price is high and worry about finding a guy to close games out later when the Sox don't suck?
