Xbox Live Question

I've heard people say that Xbox live is going to become free in September(?) or was it August...well I don't remember which month. But I heard it will become free because of the new system coming out. Is this true? If so would it be better to just wait until its free instead of paying for into get it now?

There is no new system coming out this year.

Whatever you heard about live being free is completely untrue.

To be a Gold member...that will never be free.(except for a promotional weekend every now and then)

Just checked out Microsoft.com and did a search and Gold going free is just a rumor. I can't click any of the links in the search because my work has them blocked, but one of the excerpts states:

The rumor is false. Xbox already has a free service (Silver). if you think about it logically, why would microsoft give up a valubale source of income?

That rumor has run rampant over the internet for a couple of months now though.
