To my knowledge I don't think there is a difference between the day one edition and a regular xbox one. I know that with the day one edition you get a remote that says that and a achievement but that's about it. As of right now the Xbox One is not backward compatible and I don't think it will be in the future. Your achievements from the 360 carry over and you can still earn achievements on the One like you did on the 360. It has built in wifi and a blu ray player.

Is it even worth it to upgrade? I really haven't seen that much but are the games really that much better? I typically wait a year or two before I upgrade.

Unless you're a hardcore game who has to own it because it's out, like me, then no I would say wait. IMO, the only game on the One that you when you play says "This is next gen" is Forza Motorsport 5, and unless you're a racing nut, then it'll be just another driving game. Most games that are out for the One, you can get for your PS3 or 360. In spring, some more good games come out like Titanfall and Watch Dogs, but even though those games will be on the Xbox One, it'll also be on the 360. So if you're asking for my advice, which I know you're not, I would wait til atleast Spring to see what other games are coming out.

Not unless you're big into gaming. Most of the games out for the One you can get on the 360 and there are still things that the One needs to patch up. Plus there won't really be anything coming out for it for awhile.

You can join the club Dews. I'm waiting for a few things to be worked out between both. But I know you game a lot more than I do, especially console, so you're missing on the initial high.

Looking back, I think only the Dreamcast, N64, and PS2, NES, were great for the initial high. Everything else was worth waiting on for a revision that has hardware and software fixes(as well as a few nicer titles).

Plus, none of the games are really taking advantage of the system hardware. While it might take 3 years before we see games that come close to maxing out the systems, the initial games, while good, are best played on the cheap when they're sold for $10-20, and the $50-70 games offer things that aren't just more of the same old.

Where's HJ? He's probably all over the new game tech.

You can't even play the games you downloaded on the One that you bought on 360; you have to buy the games all over again. That's one of the reasons I'm not upgrading to that system.
