I'm starting prep right now for 2mow's feasting so I thought I'd blog about it like I did in the before times.

I'm keeping it super simple this year, just one protein and a few sides for just my immediate family.

Got a 2-bone prime rib roast that I've just slathered with a salt/pepper/garlic/evoo paste, which i'll "reverse sear" tomorrow to get a medium rare with a nice crust.

Next I'll make some batter for yorkshire pudding because I just read it's best to rest for a day or more .

Making demi glace in the instapot today for the gravy for all this 2mow. Kind of excited about this because I've never made it conventionally before and apparently this machine does a good job of it. I would have just bought it per usual but I happened to have some beef bones that got a little freezer burnt so what the heck why not.

Tomorrow I'll do some slow cooked creamed spinach to round this out, and some horseradish mashed potatoes.

So it's Prime Rib n yorkie puddins with a nice red wine demi gravy
classic creamed spinach
horsey mashed
and maybe i'll crack open a can of creamed corn like me gammy used to "make"

Post your xmas day meal plans in this thread!

My great gma who died at the young age of 108 always made this hot dish (basically beef n noodles over mashed taters) every Sunday. I’m making that tonight. It’s nothing special but has family significance so I like to do it around the holidays.

My dads cooking tomorrow, no idea what’s on the menu other than booze

She died much younger than what Virginia McCaskey will die at.

I could pretend to be a cook like the OP but I won't bother.

I'll just do what he is doing but better.

I'll probably have Tea and Crumpets for starters though.

G'uvnor.

That's it? My great gdad made it to 110. Like honestly, I couldn't even really be sad when he died. It was like, talk about living a full life. Dude put in a 5 year CD at like 95 and cashed out lol.

Today, have some fam over and are just hanging out, playing board games and having some drinks. Doing snack food that everyone can just pick at. Crackers, cheese, veggies, various olives, spinach artichoke dip, crab dip, meatballs, deviled eggs, etc.

Tomorrow morning, I'm gonna make a big breakfast. Biscuits and gravy, eggs, corn beef hash.

Tomorrow night, we're going non traditional and doing a seafood boil. Corn, potatoes, onion, andouille, shrimp, king crab, lobster tail and of course a fuckton of old bay.

Sounds good. Old Bay is hard to find in a store these days.

Nice. We too are doing that sort of thing tonight- just the 5 of us though. It's our yearly Xmas eve "festival of the balls"

Meatballs, spinach balls, mini crab cake balls, a big cheese ball. tiger prawn cocktail (not a ball but the kiddos insist)

Wife made cinna roll dough just now for tomorrow's brekkie. Almost a lb of butter goes into those start to finish (frosting) and they are amazing. Pair well with bloody marys.

Merry Christmas!!!

Had to look them both up but they both sound fun. Enjoy man and Merry Christmas!
There are a lot of lesser known board games out there that are pretty great. Check out boardgamegeek if you're interested. I'm not super into it, but there is a pretty big community around it.

I too am doing biscuits & gravy tomorrow morning because it has been too long, it's gonna be way cold and I have some buttermilk I have to kill off this week.

Right now I am on my way home where I will find the wife making Xmas Enchiladas because she's ****ing awesome.

My wife has a strange homemade thing that was something her family always did on Christmas morning.

It is little smokies and shredded cheese wrapped in those pre made croissant rolls and baked off in the oven. You can dip in whatever you prefer or just eat them plain. At this point it is our tradition because we do it every year before we go anywhere for company, presents, and food.

For dinner because it is just the two of us we are doing NY Strips, Shrimp Skewers, Pan roasted Green Beans and Yukon smashed Taters. Got some really nice Strips at Costco that are about 1.5 inches thick and they had some really nice looking large shrimp that will cook great on the grill.

Edited to add: My wife just informed that she is making some stroganoff thing for dinner tonight! LoL Small world.
