There were quite a few places I flat out forgot about.

Such as Silo and builders square. I won't forget Venture because my first job was at a Venture. In Crest Hill the Venture and Handy Andy were right across the street from eachother.

There was actually one I didnt see on the list. Who remembers Service Merchandise? I don't think it was local to the Joliet area.

I grew up in small town Michigan but we used to Chicago all the time to shop, they had and still have all the best stores. I can remember at least 45 of those places. If seeing the commercials on TV, then even more. If I'm not mistaken, Liberty Auto Wreckers still uses the same footage from the late 70's early 80's, the one where the dude opens the door on that baby shit green old POS Chevy. Used to see it all the time when watching Cubs games on WGN. My all time favorite radio station was WLS. Loved Larry Ludjack and animal stories. That's back when AM radio was the shit!

Since I'm not from Chicago Ii wouldn't remember many of the places, but I remember shopping at Krogers here. They still have some by Peoria cause a family friend works at one. I remember shopping at Eagles and a few of the other places. Always went to B Daltons and Waldenbooks on Mall trips. A few of the other places are familiar from commercials.

You might as well add Dominicks finer foods to that list ever since they were taken over by Safeway i was working there when Safeway came in and ruined them. I have a few more that i didn't see on the list Zayre's and Checkers and Jack in the Box. i have a few more that i thought of Lonestar steakhouse Old country buffet and Big Boy Restaurants.

Sayers was right at the top of the list next to where it says Craig's list Chicago. I used to love going to Jack in the crack when we went to Chitown, we used to bug the piss out of our parents for it!

Too many on that list are not unique to the Chicagoland area. Jack In The Box is still out there in many places in the country, as well as Checkers. Zayre was everywhere, just like Montgomery Wards.

As far as Empire...... you aren't old if you only remember the number with 800 in front of it.

Yep...plenty of Jack in the Cracks out here. I know also some places go by different names in different parts of the country (i.e. Carl's Jr. = Hardees).
