Alright seeing the Tom Hanks thread inspired me. Post your top 3 favorite video games ever.

1.) Mass Effect - The game itself is alright at best but the story just pushes this game to greatness.

2.) Heavy Rain - This game invented a new genre and the game is nothing more than a story you interact with. It could be a movie with how solid the story is

3.) Railroad Tycoon II - The game is older than dirt. Think it was made in 98 but it never really gets old for me. Sure the graphics are horrid but man I just love the game

Based on the quality of the game itself it's a lot harder for me to rank them.

I still BF2 falls in the top 3.

Ratchet and Clank are up there, hard to pick which one, I guess the whole series.

I want to put Uncharted in there, but it's such a short game it's hard for me to put it in the top 3.

Final Fantasy VII probably deserves to be up there. The original Gran Turismo.

My favorite is usually the one I'm playing right now, as they always seem to get better. But as mentioned above, Chrono Trigger did immediately pop into my head.

I think naming by genre would probably be better

If we go by hours I put in "by choice":

Command and Conquer: Red Alert (none of that post EA bullshit, the westwood one)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_R6xCWcf_VU

Warcraft 2

Starcraft (original)

I literally played the hell out of these games long after their expiration dates. At one time RTS's were the only games I played. I really miss the constant flow of them back in the mid to late 90's. Nowadays theres not as much variety.

Hmm, this is actually tough, but here we go with my top 3 video games of all time in order:

- Ultima IV. (my brothers (who wanted to play it), convinced my grandparents to get me it for Christmas saying it was an educational game. More hours put into just the end of the game than the total of many other games combined).

- NHL 94. (Yea they have gotten better, but no other sports game has been as exciting for me. I still crack it out from time to time, where as the others usually get a month or two).

- Rainbow 6. (Changed the way 1st person shooters are played)

Honorable mentions

- Marathon. (yes it was Mac only, and yes I made a small amount of money from it by selling code and animations. Came out around the same time as Doom, but was far prettier, the environment was interactive to some extent, there were Tomb Raider like puzzles, and multiplayer up to 8 which was amazing in and of itself at the time.)

- Neverwinter Nights on AOL (yes, I was a subscriber, but this game really took MUDs to a whole new level)

- Warcraft

- Tomb Raider

I haven't had as much fun playing vid games with friends more than playing these 3 games. Just waaaay to much fun.

others

1) Leisure Suit Larry (the original pc game)...was young and it was just one of those games you can't forget playing with friends. Was my first exposure to a P.C. game which was different and with risky themes.

2) Sim City...for what it was at it's time it was non stop fun.

3) Any Zelda games (no games I like playing more by myself)

4) Mrs. Pac Man (has to be table top)..just a classic and yah it ages me

5) Pinbot (best pinball game ever..runner up would be Rocky And Bullwinkle pinball)..I love pinball games does this count?

Shit when I think back of the days of Arcades before P.C.'s and game consoles I could make a list a hundred pages long. I miss the old quarter arcades. LOVED THEM!!!
