He'll be a hot commodity for sure. Yankees and Red Sox will be in on the bidding war for him as well.

Yeah, the Red Sox had to post 50+ million to negotiate with Dice K. Based on how that went, it might actually be lower now...but who knows. You know the Yankees are looking for pitching though.

Will the winning team need to post more or less than 51.1 million on Darvish?

When Dice K went through this process in 2006, the Red Sox had the winning bid of 51.1 million dollars. The Red Sox then paid him another 50 million for a contract. It seems like most people feel it wasn't worth it. But, on the other hand, many seem to think Darvish is more suited to MLB even though he doesnt pitch every 5 day in Japan.

Im not sure what the runner-up bid on Dice K was.

Do you think it will cost more than 51.1 million for the right to negotiate with Darvish?
