I just wanted to see thoughts on it. What if he plays and tears an ACL or something? Do cub fans want him pitching in the offseason if he's going to be a starter for the cubs next year

Well you have a point. If he gets hurt he is useless to us. If he gets hurt he is also useless to anyone else. Which means we get nothing out of/for him next year.

Depends on what kind of legalese is in his contract. Even if he's not on the Cubs next year though, he's owed the money as long as he doesn't actually breach the contract.

If im Theo i dont dump Carlos for nothing. Might as well keep him on walk year. Z has to show he still good SP if he wants a contract offer for 2013. SO why trade him plus TONS of cash, where if he has nice first halve Cubs can trade him for actuall prospects.
