I honestly don't understand it... You need 2 touchdowns and a FG to tie it. At least get a FG to make it a 14 point game and give your team a chance. If you don't get it (like what just happened), you pretty much have no shot.

So the ball was not knocked away by the defender, you just want to deflect from admitting it, unlike the ball, which was not deflected.
