Grasu's problem right now is the lack of strength due his weight being at 294. He needs to get to 305 by adding muscle.

If he can't add 10lbs since he joined the team we either need a new S&C coach or he doesn't work hard. This is a problem either way. I honestly can not recall a lineup that wasn't strong enough coming out of college. I hope I'm wrong but this screams big problem in little China to me.

How is drafting Grasu in te 3rd questionable? If anything it's incomplete.

It's questionable because of how bad he has looked in the preseason and the fact that he may get bypassed at C for a career OG.

I question taking a player at 71 who appears so far from playing at the NFL level physically.

Redshirting picks is an Angelo move that never worked out.

Wish he had seen that Jared Allen wasn't a fit before paying him 10.5 mil pre-season thereby paying 11+mil for a 6th rd. pick. Liked the Montgomery signing but wish he had gotten more OL depth. Questioning the Grasu pick. Wish he waited to see if Fox and Gase could curtail Marshall before jettisoning him.
That money was guaranteed the minute he signed his contract in 2014.

All true except the for Lovie's staff. Lovie had control of the staff since the SB.

Right but nobody wants to take a job with a lame duck coach which thanks to Angelo Lovie always was.

Why is cutting Jennings a solid move? Its not like the bears needed the cap and no way McMantis is better.

Also, how you gon ding Hroniss Grasu for "debate"? Debate by whom? The local media?

Just because a guy doesn't start his first year doesn't make it a redshirt year. And its ludicrous to say guys that don't play their first year never work out.

Besides, tossing Angelo's name in there is some arbitrary hyperbolic nonsense.

The diets that make this happen are just terrifying. This is obviously an exaggeration.

You can add 10 pounds of muscle in about 2-3 months if you use a Mass Gainer but you will add some fat too. But you have to work out often and not have exhausted your newbie gains.

According to an article on the tribune's website, Brad Biggs said that Grasu HAS gained ten pounds, and is up to 304 pounds. In the article, Grasu said that he's spending a lot of extra time in the weight room, and is physically and mentally prepared to start.

Here's a part of the article:


I am ready,” Grasu said after the game. “Been ready and I have been preparing myself every single day.”

The preseason looked a little rough for Grasu, who had the make the adjustment from Oregon to the NFL where there is a lot more on his plate. He read the front side of the defensive formation only in college in the hurry-up offense that didn’t huddle. Way more goes into the job as far as communicating with the quarterback and the rest of the line in the NFL. Grasu was overpowered at times and that was probably two things. First, leverage is the key to playing well at center and Grasu also looked like he needed to get stronger in his base.


“Ever since the season started, I have been focused on getting ready mentally and getting ready physically,” he said. “I gained some weight and have been lifting a lot, more days extra, and I feel really good and ready to go.”

He said he weighs between 302 and 304 pounds, up almost 10 from the start of training camp.
