Doomsayers got you down? We have 10 reasons to look up

rose608.jpg

1. Rose carrying the Bulls

Chicago has a 1.5 game lead over Charlotte with six games left, and roughly 80 percent of the Bulls' offense now will flow through the hands of a rookie point guard. The last time Rose faced this type of pressure, he was in college playing in the national championship game. He clanked a free throw with the game on the line. It's time to see him rise to the occasion.

2. Cleveland pregame antics
The normal pregame routine of hugs, contrived handshakes and ritualized dancing before the opening tip wasn't enough for this Cavaliers team. Prior to the Cavs taking the court to try to improve on their league-best 61-13 record, they first must wait for LeBron James to pantomime holding a camera while Delonte West, Mo Williams, J.J. Hickson and Co. strike a pose. Cleveland upped the ante to playing an imaginary game of baseball after Shaquille O'Neal figured the best use of his pregame time was to roll an invisible bowling ball to knock over his teammates like pins. What's next? Imaginary curling?

3. AI's last game in Detroit
It can't come soon enough. The Pistons are 24-30 with Iverson in the lineup. His demotion to the bench had him staring into a locker room in the swamps of New Jersey on Wednesday contemplating whether he should even bother playing next year. He is the second-highest paid player in the league, making $22 million, and he's averaging fewer points (17.4 per game) than he has in his whole career. Why not forget the lucrative free-agent dollars that don't seem to be there anyway, take a drastic pay cut, reunite with Larry Brown in Charlotte and find his love of the game again?

4. Twitterrific
We found out that O'Neal has a real Twitter account when he made his hook @THE_REAL_SHAQ and started meeting his followers in shopping malls and diners to give away free tickets. We heard about Baron Davis' ulcers, Charlie Villanueva's halftime thoughts and Mark Cuban's referee complaints. What's next? Does Iverson announce his retirement on it? Does Gilbert Arenas bring back his blog in Twitter form? Do the Kings/Thunder/Wizards/Whoever announce their No. 1 pick via tweet?

I'm amped for the rest of Bulls season.

I don't think it's going to be 80% the Rose show though.

Yeah, 80% is a bad number. For a PG, Rose handles the ball less than a lot of other lead guards in the league. That will change, but 80% is too much right now.

I am super amped too.

It seems like Bulls haven't been in the playoffs forever. Even though it was only 2 years ago.

Is Deng coming back or he is going to have the surgery?

Im split on if i want him to come back or not. On one hand, we're playing some of are best ball of the season without him, on the other he's one of the best perimeter defenders we have... if not the best.. when healthy. I say if he is healthy enough to play (whatever that means for him) bring him back as a 6th man, 20mins per or so.

9. MJ as cheerleader

Jordan has vacated his spacious surroundings in the skybox for a courtside seat when the Bobcats play at home. This is a boon for the Charlotte players (who will sometimes have MJ grab them and whisper advice during a timeout) and to the fans watching on TV (there's no greater reaction shot than seeing Jordan wince at a Raymond Felton three or light up after a Gerald Wallace dunk).

Is that the Bobcats' secret to success?

NO FUCKING WAY.... I pissed myself a little just watching it. God damn those dudes are nuts, I gotta think they wear parachutes as a last ditch effort? I mean they might not be high enough for them to help, but seriously... wow

You have to take a look at his second climber. He ain't wearing a chute either.

Also, that free climb stuff over the rail is nuts. When he finally looks to the horizon...you see a storm is approaching...they mention this as he passes over the spikes which are to attact the electrical currents.

It's just ridiculous. I mean these have to be some adrenaline junkies, and then you have to think, well they have to have some knowledge of stuff because then they have to fix it when they get up there. I can't believe OSHA let's them get away with that stuff. I mean I get that they really don't have any choice but if I'm those guys the health and life benefits better be reallly good... mostly life.

Re: Tough commute

No fucking way. I spend a lot of my time in the air in the planes I fly but climbing into the air is just fucking nuts. Although I'm glad he's replacing that beacon cause I'd rather not fly into that tower. I'd hate to climb the tower just south of me here in grand forks. Second tallest structure in the world at 2,063 ft. Now that would be scary.

On a unrelated note what do you think his life insurance rates are like.

That is very related. I could not imagine what the insurance premiums for the union/company would be like.

Don't know about life insurance, but the highest workmans comp rates are for water tower painters. Those guys are a little nuts too, but nothing like these.
