It looks good, based on a real story but I might get the book first since movies tend to change things.

Wouldn't mind seeing it but I probably will wait for it to come out on video. The wife won't see movies like this (too depressing) and my 16 year old wouldn't go to the theatre for a movie like this, even though he probalby should. At home he can watch it with me.

16 hmmm...he may be old enough to view it but he needs to be a mature 16. Film is pretty hard to digest even for grown folks.

just to ricochet off my previous post about this topic being 'over done'

The director on why he made the film. Love his last few mins of thoughts

Not sure why Oprah was excluded from this movie.
Maybe because she didn't finance it? As for the movie, I hear only amazing things about it and plan to see it.

Me too. It's amazing how the general interest level in history is waning in this country. It's an important topic that needs visibility

Agreed.... kinda scary how people call history "boring" or "Its just memorizing a bunch of facts" or "Who cares, the past is in the past"

Most people in my generation or younger only care about WWII or any other historical topic that reminds them of fucking Call of Duty.... there is so much interesting stuff in history.... so many lessons to learn and so many people who repeat mistakes made in the past.

People today think of life now as being ever changing and exciting but who lived a more exciting life than Francis Drake. Admiral that saved England, hated by millions of Spaniards, fugitive that was hunted all over the world, Pirate, explorer, rich, consoler to the Queen, most loved man in England.

Might be a little more exciting than riding the Metra downtown every day and watching Cutler laid out on the field on Sundays
