I remember walking into a computer store somewhere around 1993 or so and over-hearing the salesman say something like "Yea 8MB will be plenty. You probably won't ever use that much storage in your lifetime."

I must be older, cause I can go back to the 5.25 double sided disks and the 16 K of ram and wonder who would ever need more. Also remember the 10 MB hard card inside of IBM PC and wondered why anyone would make that. Whoops. :)

For what? For storing 1 line text files?

Even if all they did was use the computer to save documents, nothing like audio or video files or anything larger.... you could easily fill that 8MB up with documents.

Find this salesman so I can slap the shit outta him for wronging these hypothetical people neither of us actually know.

I think it's like Brett mentioned. Back then everthing was stored on floppy disks. I may have that year wrong though. It might've been earlier than '93.

The thing is, most newer computers today come with what a 1 or 2 TB HD? In 20 years people will wonder why we thought that was big enough.

Lmao.... my Dad worked as a technician for Illinois Bell then Ameritech and finally for AT&T.... that sounds exactly like what I would expect from those fucktards lol.

Over the years the shit I heard from my Dad confounded me, until I started working and met real Corporate Directors, VPs, even a CEO... then I realized it all made sense.

The best was when they cut the shit out of my Dad's overtime cause they hired more fucktards they could pay to take on the extra work.... inside a year they were paying the newbies to work regular hours and paying my Dad overtime to go in and fix the shit they fucked up the first time around.

You can thank NAFTA for that.
