Who is the alltime TS% leader over a career? Artis Gilmore. Who is the alltime PER average leader? Michael Jordan.

TS% tells you about scoring...PER tells who the better basketball players are, both are somewhat inaccurate, but PER is more realistic.

By the way, where does Michael Jordan
rank all time in NBA TS%? 71!.....71!

TS% is not inaccurate. It's been scientifically weighted to measure a player's scoring efficiency. It needs to be placed into context of course. The leaguewide TS% in 2000 is going to be lower than that in 2008, because of the defensive rule changes brought about in 04-05.

It also has to be taken into context with volume. Some player could only take layups, and pass out of all other situations, and have a perfect TS%. He'd also probably only average around 2-4 points a game at most. Does that mean he's the best scorer? No. There has to be some trade off between scoring volume and efficiency.

But when two players have a similar scoring volume, you can judge who the better scorer is by who is more efficient.

You also have to take into context what actually happens out on the court and not just what the stats say. A player like Michael Jordan sees a completely different kind of double team than a guy like Ben Gordon. So if Jordan puts up similar volume and efficiency than Gordon, then Jordan's the better scorer.

But say you compare two guys like Ben Gordon and Carmelo Anthony, who see similar amounts of double teams and defensive attention. They also have similar scoring volumes, yet one player, Gordon, has a much higher scoring efficiency than the other guy, Anthony.

When this happens, it's quite easy to see that Gordon was the better scorer for the 08-09 regular season than Carmelo Anthony.

Well explained, you get an A. You just put lipstick on a pig but you get an A.

The same people made both TS% and PER. My point is this. Gordon was a better scorer last year per se....who is the better basketball player, Carmelo or Gordon. That is the question, that is my point. Who is the better basketball player....I will hang up and listen to the answer.....

Ben was better in the regular season and Carmelo was better in the playoffs.

Ben Gordon was the leader of the Bulls too.

Ben Gordon and leader don't go together

He's not a locker room or vocal leader kind of guy. But he has always been a kind of on the court leader, in that all of the other players on the team have always looked for him to bail them out or save the day. And he's always stepped forward, took the bull by the horns, and accepted that leadership role hoisted upon him in the natural course of a game.

That is the truth.

I don't call gunning in cruntch time on the court leadership, just because a player gets the green to shoot does not equate leadership, his main job is to score, that is what he does, he did not get the team settled after 3 to 4 bad possesions in a row, I gaurantee on the next possesion he would throw up a bad shot or turn the ball over. Ben Gordon good player, yes, leader, no!

I would say that Billups is the leader of that team on the court and in the locker room. Their attitude completely changed when they got him. Melo lead them to first round exits. Melo just is their best offensive scorer.
