Except that Scott is playing defense this year...even if we sent scott outta town, we would just call up/sign another defenseman

Q has said Scott will be defense

Fair enough. I just think that his presence on the team is unnecessary.

Scott isn't taking up any roster spot...he is an 8th dman. We will have 13 forwards. If Scott wasn't on this team we would have 7 dmen and 13 forwards. Nothing will change. I think John Scott is a bum of a player and I hope he plays in 0 games, but chill out. Both Smith/Stalberg will be on the team, regardless of Scott. Scott does not effect anyone else at all.

Also, someone said they rather have Pirri up here than Scott? I would love to ruin a young skilled guys career like Pirri by giving him Scott's spot in the press box...that would be genius. Pirri needs to get top 6 minutes in the AHL and fill out so he can be a top 6 player in the NHL, he has looked good in the pre-season and definitely has an exciting future.

I definitely don't want Pirri up. I was still questioning Saad being up just because he's so young. I'll admit that I don't know very much about rosters and that's why I said that. Now I know.

The thing about Saad is that he most likely (though not 100%) is only going to be up for 9 games or less. On top of that while he is up, he is going to be playing on the top 6 one would imagine...meaning his development isn't going to be hurt by sitting on the bench and not learning the game like he needs to.

Yeah, that's the good thing. I wouldn't want to see him stay. After he leaves, does Stalberg take his top 6 place or does Smith? I'm thinking it will be Stalberg just because Smith is more of a bottom 6 guy.

Center Dave Bolland (upper body) still not practicing with #Blackhawks

Good to see Bolly is in mid-season form.

Actually, it seems like Smith has a decent chance of playing on Friday. He is practicing with the team...concussions just don't necessarily happen or affect certain guys, even if knocked out cold. If Smith is in, Sharp is in, Bolland in and Carcillo out (2 game suspension from last season) then I would expect the first game lineup to look like...

Saad/Toews/Sharp
Brunette/Kane/Hossa
Bickell/Bolland/Frolik
Smith/Mayers/Olesz

Blair Betts has been placed on waivers. I wouldn't mind seeing him snagged up to come center the 4th line from time to time

I don't think Sharp will play though. On Saturday, he had a week left of rehab. Smith will probably be back. He practiced, but not with full contact.

Obviously the person I got information from was misinformed. They said that he would be back for the 3rd or 4th game. It's good that he'll be back though.

Brandon Saad
will play on the team's top scoring line in Friday's season-opener against Dallas. Saad was the surprise of training camp and he has turned his impressive showing into a spot alongside Patrick Sharp and Jonathan Toews on the number one line. It's hard to predict how long this assignment will last, but it's worth going along for the ride while you can. (Source: Chicago Tribune)
Patrick Sharp
is fully expected to be in the lineup for Chicago when they take the ice against the Stars in Friday's season-opener. He may have missed the entire preseason after an appendectomy, but that really isn't anything to be concerned about if he's truly ready to go now. Bump Sharp back up your cheatsheets if you had previously dropped him in fear of him missing time. (Source: Chicago Tribune)

Dave Bolland
is questionable for Chicago's season-opener against Dallas Friday. Bolland continues to work his way back from an upper-body injury, however he did not practice with the team Tuesday. The defensive forward is hoping to return to practice Wednesday with the goal of suiting up for the game against the Stars Friday. Stay tuned. (Source: Chicago Tribune)

Ben Smith
(concussion) took part in Tuesday's practice, but he wasn't cleared for contact. It's still possible that Smith will be available for Chicago's opener on Friday, but nothing has been decided. He suffered the injury when Brendan Smith hit him in the head on October 28th. We'll keep you posted. (Source: Chicago Tribune)

Viktor Stalberg
Viktor Stalberg (leg) is almost ready to return to practices. Stalberg sustained the injury on October 28th and was initially projected to miss about three weeks. That means Stalberg should be considered doubtful for Thursday's game against Winnipeg and Saturday's game against Boston, although nothing is set in stone. We'll keep you posted. (Source: Chicago Sun-Times)

Corey Crawford
Did not practice Tuesday as he continues to nurse a groin injury. Crawford should be back on the ice Wednesday and get the start in Winnipeg on Thursday. With a number of days off between games, coach Joel Quenneville sees no need to press his goaltender, who incurred the injury late in the preseason. The 26-year-old split his decisions in a home-and-home with Dallas to open the season. (Source: csnchicago.com)

Viktor Stalberg
took part in his first practice since September 28th on Wednesday. Stalberg thinks he's "a little ahead of the timetable." He was originally expected to miss about three weeks, but he would have been sidelined for marginally less than that if he returns on Saturday or Tuesday. The Blackhawks also play on Thursday, but we'd be surprised if he participates in that contest. Stay tuned. (Source: Chicago Tribune)

Ben Smith
might return on Saturday, according to coach Joel Quenneville. Smith has been practicing with the Blackhawks. He suffered the injury on September 28th. We'll keep you posted. (Source: Rotoworld.com)
