we would need to trade him by Dec. 19th.

If not, we won't pick up his option and he'll become a FA.

my guess is we trade him
This, he's going to be dealt for someone at the 2.

IMO it'll be 2. I pray its at least 3.

It will be 2yrs. It's basically to off-set the money he lost in his buy out. So I'm guessing 2yr/$10mill, which considering Butler just got $8mill & Hill got $6.5mill, is not too bad imho. And his salary comes off the books when Omer & Taj are up for extensions. It also comes off the books when Brewer, Watson, & Korver come off in the dreaded year 3 of the CBA.

If Bogans is traded, it would only be for a draft pick. Once Rip is signed, in all likelihood the FO will let Bogans walk. We want to keep some money to resign Kurt Thomas, who could be getting offers higher than the vet min, much like Miller did after his 2nd stint here.

Kurt Thomas, the oldest player in the NBA, has signed a two-year deal with the Trail Blazers, interim general manager Chad Buchanan said Sunday morning. Thomas, 39, has played 16 NBA seasons, including 52 games last season with Chicago. The 6-foot-9, 230-pound forward/center is expected to be the Blazers backup to power forward LaMarcus Aldridge and center Marcus Camby

Doesn't mean they'll get him. But guarantee #Bulls would pay luxury tax to land Dwight Howard.

No they aren't. Over the cap, yes. Over the tax threshold, no.

Ah... You're right. They have 5.1 million to go and can only drop 3.6 million in non-guaranteed, and 5m left on MLE, if nothing changes between now and the cutoff. I guess I needed to plug the numbers onto a spreadsheet to double check my math.

For some reason I thought we were inevitably hitting the tax, but it looks like we can actually make it through the FA period with picking up someone at the remainder of the MLE and remain 100k short.

Kwame Brown is still unsigned. He's a joke for a #1 pick, but as a backup, he's excellent.

Is Samuel Dalembert still available?
Would be a decent pickup to replace Thomas or trade bait.
