How can you project a lineup when trades/signings haven't even happened yet?

you can project "realistically" what your team can look like in many different combinations, and than discuss what each person here thinks is the best combo. its a good thread as long as it stays with in the realms of reality and not pure fantasy and false hope.

Nady is better than LaRoche? Are you high?

What late season success? He had a sub-600 OPS in September/October.

idk, LaRoche just has never impressed me in games I've seen him play. He will hit some homers, but he seems to strike out WAY to much. If things have changed since I've actually seen him play a decent amount of time, then sure he's better than Nady.

But Nady, healthier than last season, seems to better of an option to me, as he will be much cheaper, and perhaps more money can be put into Amateur Free Agents and stuff. Or they could have more money for someone better if that's the way you think they should go.

Who cares how many times he strikes out? A strikeout counts the same as a groundout or a fly out. Strikeouts is probably the most overrated stat in baseball.

no, not really. id rather have some kind of contact in situations such as man at 3rd with one out, fly ball gets the guy in, but if he strikes out.......than a sac fly wont get the run in and you have to rely on a wild pitch/pass ball or a hit.

Don't know why its so hard for some in here to understand this.

How many times over a season does that situatuion actually come up though? Putting the ball in play can also kill an inning with a double play.

Plenty..

Did you not watch the Cubs this year?

How many one run games would we have won if this happened?

It's called for the fun of it. It's for enjoyment.

Well of course we would all like that, in certain situations. But over the course of a season, when you need contact, you get it and the runner advances and you get a K, it's not going to make that much difference.

No matter who is up, it's a gamble. You don't get to choose who is up, so unless you want a team full of contact guys, you're gonna have some K guys. I'd rather have a team full of K guys than a team full of contact guys.
