Several candidates. Just wanting to get a general feel of how the board is leaning.

Ryne Sandberg -- The dude has worked his way through the farm and several think he's 1st in line to get the gig as Cubs Skipper.

Alan Trammel -- The bench coach has a history as a coach and with the team.

Bob Brenly -- The color guy has a WS ring to his credit and has reportedly said he would love the opportunity if the Cubs come calling.

Joe Torre -- The possibilities of him not with the Dodgers next year grow, and several think he should be the front-runner for the Cubs job if he doesn't return to the Dodgers next season.

Bobby Valentine -- Have heard recently that he may be one of the interviews. He's an intriguing option.

Tony LaRussa -- Heard on SportsCenter earlier that his contract is up after this season and the Cubs could offer him more than the Cards.

Fredi Gonzalez -- The former Marlins manager will be an interview for the Cubs according to ESPN during Wed Nights Reds/Nats game.

Thoughts? Who do you want to manage them? Who DON'T you want to manage them? Who do you think will do the best job? Any darkhorses in this race?

I would love to see Brenly manage. I think he'd be the best option because i'm not quite sure than Ryno is ready. I also don't think LaRussa would be a bad call, either.

Bob Brenley as the coach, and Sandberg as an assistant for a couple years, then Ryno takes the reigns.

I would like that because I don't see Ryno becoming the manager, the bench coach is his best option.

The Cubs will find a good manager because there going to have tons of people wanting to interview for the job. So I say, hire an expierence coach to a 2 year contract and assign Ryno as the bench coach. So he gets practive in the major league level and expierence.

David Kaplan keeps insising Joe G will be the Cubs next manager but if not, Ryno will be the manager then. If Joe G is the next manager, Ryno will be ask to be on the coaching staff.

Girardi would be my choice if he becomes available, then LaRussa. Other than those 2, they're all the same.

I'm would love Brenly, but only if he could still do WGN while managing.
