Oakland is going to be beastly this year. If I did these projections, I'd probably put them #1 in the West.

I like Oakland too. That division is going to be pretty fun to watch. I'm not saying oakland winning the division is crazy at all. He has them winning the WS and I dunno.. Not sure about that..

If you look at the stats, teams with high OBP, outstanding pitching and good defense, thats the type of team that goes to the playoffs and wins. And thats the type of team Oakland has.

lets not go over board.

That's not going overboard at all. The West should be pretty decent this year with Texas, Oakland, and LA. The winner is going to be pretty good.

Plus, their pitching is at the top of the AL. Beastly isn't out of the realm of possibilities at all.

New York has a good line up, and a good bullpen, but no rotation sans Sabathia, like wise with the O's, the only difference is the Yankee line up will bail out the Yankee rotation more than the O's will to theirs.

The O's have a nice looking lineup. Ya their rotation is pretty suspect but I could see them hanging around... Kind of....

TB is going to be strange. If its young arms pitch well they could be ok but Im not going to buy into them til I see it. Also they have some geezers in the lineup. Probably a lot of missed man games.

Ya thats true. If they get in it wouldn't surprise me if they did win it all. Its going to be a tough race and ill give it some more thought.

Agreed with the line up is pretty good, kind of funny though, someone on BR was predicting that the O's would this years 2010's Padres, I realize its BR, but that really be a miracle, O's are getting better, but just not enough yet.

I think the young Rays arms will be good enough, nothing that makes them 90+ win team, but I can see them at 86, 87, 88.

I think the Angels won't do much, I haven't really looked at the stats in a while, but I remember not being impressed. I think Tex wins 90ish games, I think if Webb can hold his own their rotation is only slightly worse than last year as they lose Lee, I think Oakland is just going to pwn everyone, 96+ wins for the A's IMO.

I want to give a couple of thoughts before I give my predictions.

Phillies: I have the Phils in a franchise league we're keep tabs of minor leaguers and the like, so I'm sort of versus in their farm system. They don't have much right now with Halladay and Lee trades. They have one of the best rotations of all time, that could rival the likes of Smoltz, Maddux, Glavine, and Avery in the 90's.

The big caveat to the Phillies is their bench. If Howard, Utley, Rollins, or Victorino get hurt, it's going to be really hard to replace them. Their bench is an abomination in comparison to their pitching depth. I think Tagg Bozied (who is a story in himself) has a good shot as the bench player to backup 3rd and first. Outside of that it's Russ Gload and Wilson Valdez to handled the backups... not exactly good replacements. Non roster invitees to note are Delwyn Young and Brandon Moss.

In theory, Dominic Brown should be as good if not better then Werth, but he's got to live up to the type.

They should still win the NL East, but it could easily come falling off the tracks due to their offense.

O's: Their lineup should be really good this year, and should surprise some teams. Nolan Reimold pretty much will need to rot in the minors because Vladdy will be DH moving Scott to LF putting Pie to the bench. Kevin Gregg is adequate at closing games, but as all of us Cubs fan know, he's not a sure fire thing. The O's rotation is still wayyyyy young and have no veteran leader (because it's sure not Jeremry Guthrie). Duchscherer could be that person, but I don't think he's got enough time as an Ace to do that. With how competitive the AL East is, I just don't see them getting out of the cellar.

AL:
EAST: BoSox
CENT: Minn
WEST: Texas
WC: NYY/TBR/LAA (too hard for me too honestly pick this one). The yanks rotation is horrible, the rays shipped off so much and are relying on young players/pitchers too much, the Angels have seemed to put a fairly decent team together this year.

NL:
EAST: Phils
CENT: Reds
WEST: SF
WC: Milwaukee

WS: BoSox over Philly

I love how cub fans refuse to admit the sox are good enough to win their division. too funny.

:) nothing wrong with being confident, as long as you dont feel let down if they dont win the division, that is why i am so negative about the sox and hawks all the time.....i dont want to get my hopes up.

I have the Sox winning their division and don't think it will be too close either. As long as they stay healthy.

I think the Chi Sox will win their division too...the Twins were dumb to not upgrade their starting pitching. Unless that Kyle Gibson kid really pans out early, it's the Sox division.

Normally I go into a Cubs season thinking negative too but a new manager and some new faces has me feeling good right now.

It could come crashing down though like it does with the Vikes every year lol
