By week 7 of 2014, as a diehard fan, this team had me spent... I, for the first time in 15 seasons of watching the Bears, I Threw in the towel on the team..

I did not want to watch such an uninspired group take the field and get their ass handed to them every week and not show any fight at all.

The coaching staff had completely lost me, It felt like their was no one to look to at the top, that had any idea of where the problems started or how to fix them... Trestman would literally take the mic after being blown out by 45 ( While looking like peewee hermans sidekick) and lazily say something about "evaluating" it.

"Is this who runs the Bears?" I thought, after every loss..

Last year was by far the worst I've ever had to watch. (Yes, even worse than the krenzel days)

The firing of that staff was the first step in resorting this proud franchise back to a form of competitiveness it deserves.

And with this new staff and few acquisitions, hell, this team might be 1-3 but it sure feels like a breath of fresh air knowing there's a different vibe circulating around the team. This team very well finish near the bottom of the league again this year, but it feels like there is definitely some optimism.
And that word was no where near utterable last year

This defense will improve with time under a defensive mind like fangio. I'm excited for the future, and would LOVE, to see a day when the Bears defense is leading the league in takeaways, can stop the run and get after the QB, the way it did in the days of lovie and maranelli.

It was only 5 years ago when I thought this team would make the Super Bowl for the 2nd time in 5 years. Hard to believe we're only 5 years removed from that...

These last couple years felt just awful to be a Bears fan. Kinda makes you wonder what it's like to be a Browns or raiders fan?!?! Lets thank god we aren't

But here's to the rest of the 2015 season! And the future of the Chicago Bears! Change is coming.

I for one am enjoying this season.

How the heck are you enjoying a 1-3 season where our crowning achievement was beating the friggin Raiders at the last second of a home game? I mean, I liked the win too but the Seattle, Arizona, and Green Bay beatdowns are too fresh in my mind to say that i'm actually enjoying the season.

Our expectations are low. So any success is more appreciated. But, the fact that the team comes out every game well prepared and competitive is just fun to watch. Watching these young guys develop is just fun.

I thought they played really well the 1st half of all 4 games then came out and played like shit the 2nd halves on all 3 losses. I was worried the same would happen against the Raiders but they came out played tough and squeaked out a victory. So that does show some improvement.

This is wear Fox scares the shit out of me though… halftime adjustments. He's too "Lovie Smith" when it comes to staying the course and sticking to the game plan. This isn't a conservative league anymore. You've got to take some chances now and again. Fox has this team playing hard but I think once/if this team is talented again the rains need to be passed to a more modern coach. Maybe Gase is our future but I fear he may get a HC gig after this year.

perhaps Trestman and his lack of adjustments like Lovie Smith were more your cup of tea?

the defense only had like 1 or 2 really shit drives and they're a bunch of noobs holding it together. the only real veteran leadership on the whole team is Rolle and whoever on offense.

it's supposed to look like this. get your cunts tightened already. I'm enjoying watching them lose this year more than the hopeless Mel Tucker bullshit of last year. I don't have to explain why; either you get it or you don't.

Agreed. Lovie and Co. had run their course. Trestman & Co. were just simply a disaster. So, the rebuild has to come at some point. And rebuilds are never painless. At least there should be some intellectual interest to seeing how the entire team progresses through this rebuild. It might be successful, it might not, there is no way of knowing at the moment. True, either you get it or you don't.

Trestman was a total shit show. I'm not saying Fox isn't a good coach just that he needs to take some more chances if this team is going to succeed. Even if we lead at half (ala GB) we should be changing some things up to keep the opposition guessing. Put the foot on the gas a little and extend the lead and then get more conservative.

Tucker vs Fangio isn't even a conversation. Tucker isn't fit to be a quality control coach is this league let alone a DC. Fangio is one of the best DCs in the league and his unit is starting to play better with a shit cast.

I am enjoying the changes.
The results, not so much.

But at least there is a noticeable difference in scheme and decisive movement on dumping under performing players.

I look at it like this. Last year, we were at full offensive strength and had every expectation and reason to win and still (mostly) sucked. There was no fight in the team and the schemes on both side of the ball looked like they were severely lacking at times: on offense, we still had too many people getting by the o-line and occasionally had folks unblocked with a free lane to the qb, and on defense we allowed wide-open guys who were able to catch not just uncontested passes, but at times guys were completely uncovered. The defense couldn't stop anyone last year.

This year while limping along without our two starting wideouts, missing a healthy QB for 2.5 games, we're not rolling over for anyone. Against the three playoff teams (and one Super Bowl team) the Bears played in a row, the Bears were in every single game at the half before the talent deficiency caught up with them. At the same time, the front-office has made it known that they're serious about shipping people out who don't perform (even 4th round picks from last year). Prior to the recent o-line injuries, the Bears have been able to run the ball, even against teams known to be good at stopping the run like Seattle and Arizona- despite those teams knowing we were going to run the ball. Frankly, that hasn't been the case in years.

So you ask why there's optimism, I think the best way to sum it up is, even when taking some licks, we're certainly dishing them out, too. The attitude of the team is changing right before our eyes, and it's an exciting time to watch the foundation grow. I'm even encouraged when the guys with no-talent play, because the sooner they play, the sooner the team realizes they suck and then moves on. The only disappointing thing so far is the injuries.

Because the team is buying in. They've all cashed in on the new coaching staff and it shows. Those that don't, are getting traded or cut. This team, for the first time since 2010, is finally showing some balls. It's awesome win or lose.

I'm enjoying it because I never expected a talent depleted roster with a new coaching staff, a mistake-prone quarterback (and his terrible backup starting against Seattle) with all its receivers and half of its OL hurt to sweep three of the very best teams in the NFL like it's 1985. Maybe your expectations were unrealistic.

I know.

I will watch a less talented team compete over a more talented team quit any day of the week.

Last year was so embarassing. I never have seen a team quit so obviously.
