By week 7 of 2014, as a diehard fan, this team had me spent... I, for the first time in 15 seasons of watching the Bears, I Threw in the towel on the team..
I did not want to watch such an uninspired group take the field and get their ass handed to them every week and not show any fight at all.
The coaching staff had completely lost me, It felt like their was no one to look to at the top, that had any idea of where the problems started or how to fix them... Trestman would literally take the mic after being blown out by 45 ( While looking like peewee hermans sidekick) and lazily say something about "evaluating" it.
"Is this who runs the Bears?" I thought, after every loss..
Last year was by far the worst I've ever had to watch. (Yes, even worse than the krenzel days)
The firing of that staff was the first step in resorting this proud franchise back to a form of competitiveness it deserves.
And with this new staff and few acquisitions, hell, this team might be 1-3 but it sure feels like a breath of fresh air knowing there's a different vibe circulating around the team. This team very well finish near the bottom of the league again this year, but it feels like there is definitely some optimism.
And that word was no where near utterable last year
This defense will improve with time under a defensive mind like fangio. I'm excited for the future, and would LOVE, to see a day when the Bears defense is leading the league in takeaways, can stop the run and get after the QB, the way it did in the days of lovie and maranelli.
It was only 5 years ago when I thought this team would make the Super Bowl for the 2nd time in 5 years. Hard to believe we're only 5 years removed from that...
These last couple years felt just awful to be a Bears fan. Kinda makes you wonder what it's like to be a Browns or raiders fan?!?! Lets thank god we aren't
But here's to the rest of the 2015 season! And the future of the Chicago Bears! Change is coming.
