When you have the merchandising power of that team in a desperate town like Cleveland IMO it cancels out that tax.
Last year they had revenues of 149 M... I imagine that it was much much higher this season, but I don't know if its enough to make up $275 million in JUST player salaries.. that doesn't cover all the other expenses they have.

Fans can't ***** about Rose's contract anymore!

Not in this landscape. Not with Paul Milsap getting 20 million a year and BACKUP Tristan Thompson getting $16 million a year. Uh Uh. Anthony Davis just signed for 5 years and $145 million. TWENTY NINE million a year.

I wouldn't be shocked if it does.

I know the cap is going up, but some of these contracts are ridiculous.

I feel like that's said every year. Teams overpay every year with the hopes of becoming a contender, or tricking their fans into thinking they'll be a contender.

When this is all said and done there's a good chance they'll be spending near $275 million on player salaries alone next year.

If it gets you a title, I suppose, but thats a ridiculous godly unheard of amount before. The Nets set the record before in 2013 at $180 million. Cleveland is about to be 100M more than that.

Hope all works out well for GM LeBron.

And now we can throw Shumpert in there with the fat contracts. I like that for us though...they aren't going to be able to make any moves at all.

In order to make a trade I think they have to match salaries dollar for dollar at that point.. or something very close to...closer than usual.

Watch them turn Brendan Haywood's contract into D Wade and then I set fire to the NBA head offices.

I wouldn't even be surprised tbh.

And holy shit Asik at 5 yrs 60 mil. If you're 7 foot and are average you get fat checks in the NBA. Ridiculous.

Afflalo to the Knicks on 2yr/16M deal is the best value of all imo. Too bad we couldn't get that sort of deal.

Yea, its pretty ridic. Teams going HAM because of the salary cap explosion next year. Asik is a good player for a C in the NBA. If I am the Pels though, I send him to hands camp. Dude can't catch a pass.
