I think those who are in the "Trade Contreras" camp are so because his defensive metrics are average at best and his years of control would garner a good haul. Add in the Cubs have a strong farm for C and he becomes "expendable."
I think they trade Bryant before the season starts to really get under the CBT threshold.
I just keep going back to why was he sitting for 2 out of the 3 pitchers. Caratini was not tearing it up, it leads to personal issues with these guys. Maybe Contrares being elevated to being Lesters personal catcher worked against him. I think he moves around too much for Darvish, doing the Pena splits, setting up late, those are reasons that make me question how "easy" it is to throw to him, but it seems like something really simple to fix.
You simply cannot frame pitches 6 inches off the plate, the location has to be closer. I see those "great" framers pulling an outside pitch to the middle of the plate. Really? The ump did not see that?
Fans are just realizing we cannot bring in new 20 million dollar players every year and pay these guys, so they find a reason to hate. I dont hate Bryant for being upset they renigged on their promise and kept him down one fucking day longer than super 2. I just cant. I do not think anyone put in his situation would get over it either.
When this all started, it was, fine, you can have your build, but are you really ready to watch this same team for a decade? I doubted it then.
Fix the main problem of bringing in Heyward to ruin this broth. Get him moved, fix the mistake.
