We have a lot of PG talent. Stop grading PG ability based on assist stats, those are the MOST padded stats in the entire NBA and a gawd awful metric to judge players in a position, native or not.
What we do have, is a bunch of under-developed talent, failed by a miserable set of coaches, bad morale and staff. The only reason Zach and Coby get inflated stats(factoring in rookie scale stats for Coby), is because they are self-motivated players. Wendell gets his numbers because he is also motivated, but not a PG. Dunn is amazing when he is motivated, and a scrub in all other conditions, very fragile, but that is the issue. We don't have someone to mend those things.
The bottom line is, the Bulls can draft or sign another PG and it will be the same result. They could get prime John Stockton, and he would be chucking 3's and parking his ass at the top of the key for 20mpg for O and D, landing 4.5 assists per game and the Bulls still drafting 7th. We have to wait and see if Michael has a serious solution. If not only his changes go deep enough, but are ALSO an improvement. That's where we are at, and it's a shame, because we have some good players. Maybe not everyone is some ALL-NBA team talent, but who knows who could have been with slightly better coaches.
