I think there are only 3 players that can save Bowmans job and I list them now in order of effectiveness at such.

1. Kakko
2. Lord Byram
3. Jack Hughes (needs time to grow stronger but name could buy Stan a year alone)

I really don't understand the local kid angle for marketing as that only pertains to hardcore fans, imo, or 4 years from now when its a great story. You don't need to reach those types.

If I got to wait 2.5 years for what would be a 3C on this team, or I could take a 2nd pairing D in year one, 1st pairing by year two guy..

There should be no question here.

All the articles this week are focusing on turcotte and cozens. I even saw a mock draft having byram going @8. I don’t get this but I won’t be mad we draft turcotte I think he will he a legit player
I wouldn't, either.

Turcottes numbers are smurfed because of injuries. If he was healthy the entire year his numbers, IMO, would have been comparable if not better then Hughes on top of playing 200 FT.

That being said;

You cannot, I repeat, cannot pass on a number one defenseman.

On Detroit talk radio sounds like they really want zegras.

#3 Most "Valuable" Player Right Away. Nicknames. "Ivan Drago", "Lord Byram"

Bowen Byram

If they pass on this pick, my guess is because of the combine, and a feeling from watching that highlight that those type of goals may not translate to NHL...

he holds onto the puck a long time. He easily maneuvers goaltenders out of position, but not NHL goaltenders. IDK...

If they deviate then they better not miss. The guy they get better be great.

Getting nervous something dumb will happen. Just fucking take Byram

Right on Q for #4 featurette.
My cautionary tale on Turcotte...is beware selecting the guys (caufield/Turcotte/Zegras) who benefitted from a generational talent near them. He can saucer pass though. Good defensive positioning. Plays dirty in corners. "top line center with elite play making abiilties" "40-50 assists""15 goals" "Paul Stazny"

You don't pass on Byram for Paul Stazny.
And injury prone. Don't do it Stan.

#5 Podz. So Podz is a monster. He should be valued no less than #5 in a deep top heavy draft.

I am actually fine with any of the top 5. You get me one of these 5 studs and I am giddy. I was just kidding about Turcotte to get a raz out of the CCS crowd.

#9 Dylan Cozens (think a cross between Joe Thornton and that Wizard kid Joker we got from the Red Wings...Cozens is a little thin boned)

reading rumors that the Hawks really like Dach. I don't know how I feel about that selection if it ends up being him
