Projecting? Naw, I am not ashamed of the fact that I drink a bunch of alcohol unlike some people. In fact, I am rather proud of my manly abilities to out consume mere mortals.

However, I don't think it is a good idea to day drink during the week. It is a bad look bro.

South Louisiana says otherwise

I'd do Italy and definitely include Cinque Terre. Did that trip in September and Cinque Terre is one of the most amazing places I've ever seen.

Yeah, cool place, but far from my favorite there. Personally my favorite city in all of Europe is Florence, and if i was going to the coast of Italy I would head down to the Amalfi coast/Positano.

Muslim countries would probably be best for you.

I just returned from Marrakech. **** that place and others like it, never again vacationing anywhere that i have to keep my hand in my front pocket to protect my wallet and phone, every car pulling into our hotel has to be searched for car bombs, and we had a guide every time we left the hotel property.

I was too scared to even partake in the Morrocan hash there for fear of Midnight Express. Waited until we crossed the pond into Lisbon before before taking any unnecessary risks..

Anyone ever been to Munich / Bavaria?

Hugely overrated, there are way better places to visit in Germany, and many better countries in Europe to visit rather than Germany.

And for my taste, food in Germany/Austria/Czeck/Belgium region is disgusting in comparison to Spain/Italy and to a lesser extent, France.

Don't go to Spain for food unless you really like PORK!

We've talked about German food before, I love the stuff, it's a super rich gut bomb but it's delicious. RacerX is the man but writing off an entire region of the world seems heavy handed. I could go for an Austrian pastry right now.

The Southern coast of Spain for Paella, that sounds pretty good too.

I have been many times, Spanish food is my favorite across the Euro continent, slightly above Italian.

Other than the Iberico (which is like a way-better bacon) they also have wondrous seafood, beef, and veggies.

Fair. That region indeed has much to offer, i guess it’s just not the style of food I prefer. I’m lactose-intolerant so all those dairy-based sauces are beyond my scope. And I don’t want gut-bombs because I must always conserve additional space for alcohol.

The bolded is a fair point. My parents loved Spain and have been there 6 or 8 times, raved about the food, and Barcelona. The tragic thing is, neither one of them liked seafood, can you imagine going to Barcelona and not eating seafood? I teased them that they should given some of those trips to someone that was able to appreciate the cuisine.

I don't know, me and the wife maybe.

loved Vigo, A Coruña, Salamanca, Madrid, San Sebastian, and Bilbao in Spain (didn't make it Barcelona). Loved Florence, Gaggio Montano, Perugia, Venice, Montepulciano in Italy (didn't make to Rome, Naples, or anything much south of Tuscany). Not much of a foodie and at the time I was taking advantage of the Eurail Pass and crashing with friends who were studying abroad.

I want to go back to both those countries with my wife, but we are also always trying to decide whether we should revisit places one or the other of us had been before we met or try to see new places together before we are decrepit like Omeletpants. And obviously, there were huge swathes of those countries I didn't get to see (or she didn't get to see for ones she visited) when we traveled places when we were younger solo.

Pro-tip for anyone who wants to visit both Korea and/or Japan: Fly into Busan and stay around Haeundae Beach. Not only is it gorgeous and less congested than Seoul (which isn't as congested these days as you might think, even with 22 million people), but you can catch a bullet train to Seoul and points beyond that only takes 2 hours AND, you can take a 90-minute hovercraft (with a bar) to Fukuoka, Japan, which puts you 2 hours away from Tokyo via another bullet train.

ETA: Don't let 'Train to Busan' dissuade you.

No surprise to me that the educated, non-racist posters are well-traveled, it's the Omelet-type provincial dumb fucks that have no exposure let alone appreciation for other cultures and therefore are afraid of them.

I flew into Busan with my Fam this past summer after touring Kyoto and the surrounding towns + Tokyo, then from Busan bought some of that funky Korean malt liquor sold in 7-11s and pounded several of those on the bullet train to Seoul while getting my ass kicked playing drunk backgammon against my wife, good times.

BTW - Korean street food (and BBQ) cannot be described, must be experienced.

Back to Spain, I've never enjoyed a small town as much as San Sebastian. I brought my boys there for my 50th bday after we ran the bulls in Pamplona, epic experience.

San Sebastian is amazing. Went in 2014 and definitely want to get back there. Food there is mind blowing.

Doing Japan again for cherry blossom season during my big trip to Asia. Kyoto, Tokyo for sure. Also Okinawa.

Have to agree. Was underwhelmed with my trip to Germany. Didn't think it was all that. Although to say the food in Germany is disgusting is a bit strong. It's not as good Spain or Italy but I still enjoyed it.

Love Florence but the amount of tourists grows tiresome after a while. The lines for some of the museums there is just asinine.

Anyone ever been to Munich / Bavaria?

Yes, went in late September/early October. I was underwhelmed.
