Yeah, so if they clean that up a little.. I think overall defensive abilities would look even better (assuming they keep trying and don't become complacent like last year). I don't view Lonzo Ball as some All-1st Defensive guy who is the reason this team has failed to be good defensively like some have suggested (not anyone in this current discussion). Lonzo certainly would help though.Yes, 5th worst

I’m the guy that definitely thinks Lonzo makes this team a ton better defensively. That opponent 3% would go down with him out there. you remember he’s the guy the bulls would have guard Tatum one night and Lillard the next. That versatility is something the bulls don’t really have outside of Lonzo. Caruso would be the closest, but in reality he’s too small to handle a TatumYeah, so if they clean that up a little.. Lonzo would help, but he's not the reason the whole thing falls apart in my opinion. If he is, then he should easily be voted to All-D 1st.I’m the guy that definitely thinks Lonzo makes this team a ton better defensively. If he hadn’t gotten hurt last year he would of had great oddsLonzo would help, but he's not the reason the whole thing falls apart in my opinion. If he is, then he should easily be voted to All-D 1st.
Marcus smart won defensive player of the year last year with 1.7 steals per game, 0.3 blocks per game and a defensive rating of 107
Lonzo last year avg 1.8 steals, 0.9 blocks, and a defensive rating of 111
We all know defensive metrics don't mean much because they're hard to measure.... and much of the defensive awards system is based on eye tests. Marcus Smart does a lot of things that just can't be measured on the stat sheet.Marcus smart won defensive player of the year last year with 1.7 steals per game, 0.3 blocks per game and a defensive rating of 107

James Harden vs Klay Thompson is a good example of thisYou could be up there in steals and still be a bad defender. Steals aren’t indicative of overall defensive impact and ability. Conversely, you could not average a lot of steals and be an all world defender
Lol everyone getting their panties in a wad I see. I never said defensive metrics were great. Just merely listed the steals, blocks, and rating as a way to show Lonzo had the numbers to be considered a first team all defense player.
And yes, those don’t tell everything about a defender, the eye test is one that plays a part as well. And the eye test tells you lonzo is an excellent defender.
And yes, I know Marcus smart does a lot of things the stats don’t show…you all obviously forget two offseason s ago when I was advocating the bulls trade for smart. I absolutely understand his value and appreciate it more than others on CCS do
Isn’t this his 2nd tear?Wait, when did Gallinari tear his ACL?
