Something i was thinking about... I'm curious at what point NYY would cut bait on Devin Williams. He's a FA after the season. And it's possible given they are a playoff team they just ride this out and hope he gets better because I'm not sure the yankees would get a ton for him at the moment. But given his connection to Craig and given the previous trades the cubs and ynakees have made, it just struck me as an interesting challenge trade.

Didn't amount to anything but Nico and Happ running 8 and 9 pitch at bats respectively is pretty impressive. Wheeler probably not going past the 6th with 84 pitches currently

Sucked to lose that one. But even in losing three of four, the pitching has been good and that's a good sign in the long run.

Skubal, Flaherty and Wheeler are no slouches, obviously.

Get right back at it!

Yeah they just didn't score enough runs. Good to see they were winnable games though.

Really hurt not putting the ball in play with PCA on 3rd and 1 out.

I looked at the scores and thought "at least everyone in the division is going to lose." And the Cards then scored 4 in the bottom of the 8th to take a 4-3 lead.

Rough couple of games. Ball hasn't bounced our way and leaving runners on. It will correct. Put some real good swings that equated to outs. That won't last

Just playing good teams.

Kelly cooled off. Happened when Amaya went down. Craig was able to keep them fresh. But they are missing that bat behind PCA. Should just put Busch there and go RH or try Shaw and Busch behind him. Kelly and Swanson are not doing much.

Quick switch up

LF Happ
RF Tucker
DH Suzuki
CF PCA
3B Shaw
1B Busch/Long
SS Swanson
C Ballesteros/Kelly
2B Hoerner

Bench Turner @ Berdi

Get some O going.

I believe the 5 hole os Shaw's long term home. See what he can do with PCA ahead of him. Little power and able to punch hits to RF is ideal with PCA's wheels.

Its pretty funny when your 4th best hitter over the last month gets shit on by fans.

Take away

We need pitching. The level of quality depends on how Shota and Hodge return.

We score runs. But we can up the bench quality.

No comment on contract extensions.

Yeah that was good to see. I mentioned that everyone in the division was losing, but since he had actually won. I misread the Cincy versus Cleveland since they’re the same town in my mind.😂

Someone stating that Shaw will not be moving to the five spot is not shitting on him. Not even remotely close. There was nothing even slightly negative said about Shaw. It was simply someone stating that management is not gonna move the rookie to the five spot right now.

You live in a world where every day you’re changing the lineup because somebody got two hits the day before. That’s not how it works and that’s not how it should work.

You may move people around versus a lefty starter and then change it for a righty starter, etc. but you’re not gonna move a guy up and down based on the fact that he got hit yesterday. Most anyone will tell you that’s the worst thing you can do with a young hitter.

I honestly kinda like nico and shaw later in the line up because they are so good at making contact. It loops the line up well in what traditionally would have been "lead off" types. only they are hitting with people on base more.

They took a chance on PCA. Shaw has had a better year 1 than PCA did

I like being able to hit to RF with PCA on base.

I am good with Hoerner hitting #9. Good guy to get on base for the top turn over.

Shaw has more power potential than Hoerner. That is why he has #5 potential.

Year from now this will be happening. I would like to get a hitter there that is actually hitting

One of the current issues is they are getting away from manufacturing runs and waiting on HR yet again

They need to start creating runs again. That is why they were dangerous and they have gone away from it.
