Hoyer and his idiot owner sucked the life out this team for me. I've watched exactly one game since last May and they've given me no reason to change. Losing the first two games of a 162 game schedule doesn't mean dick.... it's far more than that.

After two plus years, he finally upgraded the pen from horrid to average. Trouble is, the starters are gonna press them....you got Shota who will still be good but not as good as last year. You can count on Steele, Taillon and Boyd all missing starts...some more than others. Assad is already hurt.

They won a lot of ST games, scored a lot of runs. Trouble is, the guys doing most of the damage are not only backups but might night even go north with the team.

Just in case anyone missed it....this is a do or die year for the Cubs. If they don't at least win this weak ass division....Mr. Moneybags isn't paying anyone big bucks including Tucker who I called a rental from day one.

Only good thing is that Hoyer will be shown the door.

Cubs go 83-79.....the masters of consistent ineptness.

yep, and tucker is the reason they should be more "in" for this season. they need tucker to enjoy this season in chicago to help any chance of re signing the guy

and that to me, should mean a guy like Alcantara finds playing time at the MLB level. dude was crushing ST baseballs. let him play...but, the cubs arent acting like a team that wants to win right now in 2025.

The thing about Tucker and the reason I called him a rental on the day of the trade, he won't be resigned no matter what he does. If he has a down year he won't get the money he'll be asking for and if he has a great year....he most assuredly won't get the money he wants, at least not from Ricketts.

I mean I think judging the team off 2 games against one of the best rosters ever is a little extreme, but hoyer had another lackluster offseason where he missed the mark as usual.

yeah, it wasnt so much me worrying about tuckers production as much as worrying about the cubs as a team. this is like an audition to show Tucker why Chicago is the right place for him long term.

i dont think people are even reacting too much to these 2 games.

the suspicion was the roster wasnt cutting it for a contender to begin with. these two games have just sort of confirmed those suspicions thus far. and sure, the dodgers are a loaded roster, but lets not forget that betts and freeman both missed the 2 games too then. that is their 2 best position players not named Ohtani

I haven't paid a TON of attention to them over the past few months. I know they traded for Tucker and traded Bellinger. Was there a specific reason they traded Bellinger? I know he's an OF, but couldn't he DH or play 1st?

it was a salary dump, mostly. ill be fair to the cubs in that i think trading Belli was the smart play considering the youth they have in the minors coming that play the OF

you could argue 1B, but they are wanting to let Busch sink or swim there

really, the only other realistic option was to trade Suzuki to clear the OF glut but personally i prefer Suzuki over Belli.

In before mid season doldrums when the thread is just csf77 responding to his own posts for days at a time.
I took a week off. No one wanted to talk Cubs anyways.

I am a bit concerned with the team right now. The regular line up looks flat and the pen is Shakey.

So I am hoping this is just a phase vs a prelude.

But I have been busy in RL so not a big deal if they fail again. I got Trumpy to entertain me again vs Soreville Biden.

lmao just before your week away you were pounding the table about how this was a 90+ win roster and what not

what was the win total you predicted again?? instead, now you finally see the warts on the roster?? lmao
