Every player on Georgia is trained in a pro style offense and is asked to do everything a professional coach would ask. At 6’7” 280 with the ability to run a 4.6+ 40 Darnell Washington gives you the ability to disguise every playcall and diversify your offense using a two tight end set. People believe you can run a two TE set with a big WR that plays TE in certain situations but this simply isn’t the same.

Darnell Washington gives you a massive advantage at the point of attack and forces the defense to play balanced over the ball. He isn’t a WR playing the U or a U playing the Y for those that follow, He is a Y that can really catch and this means Kmet becomes a Y that can play the U at a high level as we’ve seen to exploit mismatches.

If he gets his stride he’s nearly unstoppable and can push piles, his athleticism is rare at 6’7”. He hurdles defenders and has made some cuts you wouldn’t expect from a guy that size. A red zone target with a solid vertical that makes him a nightmare matchup on smaller linebackers both in the run and pass game.

This is the player that drastically changes the offense for fields. His reach allows him to play like an additional tackle on the edge and he can give you a running lane normal tackle/tight end combos can’t normally perform.

Pulling guards behind his side of the line for running backs opens a much larger lane and Fields could see the value when linebackers can’t cheat to either side or up towards the line. If they cheat towards Either TE it sets up PA passes all game with one of the TEs slipping behind the linebackers for easy yards downfield. This forces cover 1 from safeties and with Claypool and Mooney 1 on 1 on the wide side it’ll be fun to see how they defend them.

Problem is the line must hold up! Hopefully we grab a LT in FA or in the draft! Or both! We have tons of cap space and I think if we start the franchise off by supporting Fields we can grab a few defensive players to help us win some games. Smith Akiem Quinn and Mack losses have been noticeable. But Fields makes up for it.

Ruined by the organization and Nagy…

If Fields had Nagy he’d never have been the guy he is now… proof is there… I stand by that reality… coaching matters…

Georgia TEs very overrated. Run heavy scheme gets them super favorable matchups against slower LBs.

That’s kinda the point with Washington. You’re getting a 6th offensive lineman that can also catch the ball. The run game will benefit greatly from drafting him

He had Nagy for an entire season. His rookie year, a NFL players most formative year was with Nagy. He has spent more of his career with Nagy than Getsy.

I agree. Kmet is not a top TE. They need a threat at the position. For cripes sake, look at the rest of the league and how much of their offense uses the TE as a go to guy or 3rd down especially.

That type of guy is a 4th round selection, not a 2nd. Would you take Kmet again at 50?
