Yup, D-Cat is in top form, impressive.
Thanks, I don’t remember hearing or seeing anything about this kid.22 year old free agent who played at Boston College. Stan loves college guys
That makes 2 of us, but hey Stan is doing a great job remember.late watch another brutal game for 51. yes cat has been playing unbelievable in all 3 zones what a year for him.
Want everyone to understand that we have a very young d core and they are being tutored by Shelly Brookbank.
I cant wrap my head around that one.
1st, it's not like JC isn't so far out of his depth he needs water wings. He has not handled this season well at all.Kampf is at a career high in MPG.
If he could bring anything other then faceoff wins I wouldn't have a problem with him as a fourth line guy, but rewarding him with Kane isn't a good look and if playing with Kane doesn't get you token points you are a lost cause.
Zeus looked adequate when he was playing with Kane and he was washed up, da **** it wrong with Kampf?
The guy can win a FO,kill a penalty and cover better players defensively,it's not his fault he's devoid of offensive ability. If Kane is getting double shifted and it's with Kampf because he 's the only guy who can win a draw..........might explain Kane's lack of goal scoring. Keeping Kane and D-Cat apart is still coaching maleficence IMO!1st, it's not like JC isn't so far out of his depth he needs water wings. He has not handled this season well at all.
2nd: you have to make do with what you have, and right now Kampf is the only guy who can actually win a faceoff. Maybe he shouldn't be up withKaneDebrincat because he's a 4th liner at best, but if it's a draw that needs to be won he's gotta be the guy we tap this year because there's no Toews or, going back further, Yannik Perrault.
Still, Kampf isn't really a floater. He may not be Hagel in terms of redlining it in ever shift no matter how hopeless the situation it is, but truth be told I've never seen him stop skating and give up on a play--not like Nylander, Boqvist, or Strome have. Until we get someone better I'd rather see guys like them on the ice that actually play each shift than guys who need heart transplants.
You're preaching to the choir. I don't think JC has done a good job and unfortunately as long as his lip-to-anus interface on Bowman is intact, he'll have a job as long as Bowman is here. The guy can win a FO,kill a penalty and cover better players defensively,it's not his fault he's devoid of offensive ability. Don't get me wrong.I have NO problem with Kampf as our 4LC for the foreseeable future because he's good at the role. You're preaching to the choir. I don't think JC has done a good job and unfortunately as long as his lip-to-anus interface on Bowman is intact, he'll have a job as long as Bowman is here.
And as for Kampf and guys like Hagel, I also agree. It's not all about offense. The 'hawks have had a serious problem keeping the puck away from the net for at least 5 years. Now that the 'hawks don't have at least sub-elite goaltending it's getting exposed, and even if guys can be pedestrian on offense and defense, if they don't shoot the team in the foot and actually play every shift rather than lollygag it out there, they have their place until/unless the 'hawks find someone better for that role.
I think any team that tries to rely on consistent scoring from the 4th line is in dire straights, and it seems like there are a lot of fans who are criticizing the Hagels and the Kampfs simply because they aren't scoring. Kruger was a valuable piece and was also an offensive black hole--because he was able to help keep the puck away from high danger areas.
Anyhow, as for Kane's lack of scoring I think there are a lot of factors, but honestly I'm not upset by it. He's been asked to a ton this season and it seems like now he's either gassed, lost interest, both, or there's something else. But it's not like Debrincat hasn't stepped it up while Kane has faded, and it's not like Kane's play has just tanked. Kane's still doing a lot of little things right and that's usually the best way to get out of a slump.

Well...Don't get me wrong.I have NO problem with Kampf as our 4LC for the foreseeable future because he's good at the role.
With all due respect,I can't make the comparison with Hagel.....the kid is now the team's fifth leading scorer and will only get better.
Can anyone say Kane's numbers don't look even better skatin' with D-Cat all year? Not playing one a league's best snipers with one of the league's best set-up men is coaching nonsense IMO.
We tried Kruger as a #2C and it didn't pan out. Kinda like Bolland he was a defensive specialist--even though Bolland was never good at the dot.Yeah but.....
Kruger never played above his weight class and had elite chemistry with Frolik. That is the biggest problem with Kampf.
He's being put in a position to be a producer while with Kane only because he wins faceoffs and the fact is it's killing Kane and the other team pretty much has four players and a wa body on the ice to worry about.
Kruger also was a defensive zone specialist with a couple years while in his prime at 80% ozs. That's insane. He was a monster one year on faceoffs then was around 45%. The thing is, he and Frolik would get possession then flip the ice. Kampf doesn't nor can he do that. Even if he wins a faceoff he's been prone his entire career to give it right back.
I would always give the guy the benefit of the doubt for the same reason you do, he hustles. But the facts are if he wasn't on the Hawks, he wouldn't be in the NHL.
They could sign Glendening off the Wings in the summer for little and get a better faceoff guy, better defensive forward, who can actually put a puck in the net.
Is all I'm saying
I think we can all agree that we need more players like Hagel.Don't get me wrong.I have NO problem with Kampf as our 4LC for the foreseeable future because he's good at the role.

Bolland was a MUCH better offensive player than Kruger and his 46% at FO's is better than what we got now except Kampf. We tried Kruger as a #2C and it didn't pan out. Kinda like Bolland he was a defensive specialist--even though Bolland was never good at the dot.
And there are a few teams he would be on...Ottawa. Detroit. Columbus. The bargain basement teams. The fact of the matter remains is that there are no better players on the 'hakwks that can supplant him--at least not ones that don't also need a heart transplant.
Bolland did have better offense, yes, but he hit the glass ceiling hard when they tried to use him beyond the 3rd line center. Either way when I think of "Defensive Centerman", Bolland and Kruger come to mind. Before you get on me and ask, "What about Toews?" Toews is a 2-way centerman in my eyes. If you need O, you plug in Toews. If you need D, you plug in Toews. If you need to win a faceoff, you plug in Toews. Bolland and Kruger? You don't plug them in when you need to score, but you plug them in when you don't want the other guys to score.Bolland was a MUCH better offensive player than Kruger and his 46% at FO's is better than what we got now except Kampf.
Kampf also had eight goals last year and looked to be progressing a bit but he musta got 'coached up'.
Believe it or not(LOL),I had no intention of dragging JT into this debate because we're comparing Bolland to Kruger.....both were excellent defensively and both helped the team win Cup(s).Bolland did have better offense, yes, but he hit the glass ceiling hard when they tried to use him beyond the 3rd line center. Cat gets it done. Only 2 left
Kaner 2.5 minutes more than any other fwd last night.... Same number of shifts as others.Maybe just stop double shifting Kaner.......putting him out there with a guy like Kampf is as useless as tits on a bull anyway!
Longer shifts mean he just stays out there when his linemates change,it's not a double shift since he doesn't come off but it is a double shift time-wise.....no?Kaner 2.5 minutes more than any other fwd last night.... Same number of shifts as others.
