Four men are accused of bailing out of a white stretch limousine and punching three people, breaking one man's jaw, in the Lakeview neighborhood as someone with the attackers recorded the beating, authorities said this morning.A Chicago police officer was slightly injured while arresting the men, officials said.The beating happened about 1:10 a.m. Sunday at Clark Street and Cornelia Avenue, just south of Wrigley Field, police said. Several people jumped out of a stretch limousine and started punching another group of people, according to Chicago News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien.
A 27-year-old man was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center with head injuries, including a broken jaw, police said. Two other men, 22 and 27, also were injured but were not taken to a hospital.The man with the broken jaw told police that three people came up to him and began punching him in the face, sending him to the ground, police said. The 22-year-old also was punched in the head by three men, he told police. The other 27-year-old was punched in the head and chest, police said.Arrested in the attack are Corry Simmons, 32, of the 1800 block of South Ridgeway Avenue; Donald Robinson Jr., 31, also of the 1800 block of South Ridgeway; Alvin L. Goffin, 32, of the 3600 block of South Rhodes Avenue; Edward E. Robinson, 31, of the 1800 block of South Springfield Avenue. Each were charged with felony mob action, police said.Simmons was also charged with aggravated battery and misdemeanor resisting arrest, and both Robinsons were charged with aggravated battery.The person who recorded the beating was with the attackers but was not arrested. Police said the other attackers either fled in the limousine or on foot.
