a lot of those places are small towns/cities.

I'm sure they made the list based on everything from crime rate, weather, prices of stuff, etc.

Obviously smaller towns are gonna have a low crime rate and the prices aren't gonna be as high as they are in NY, CHI, LA, etc.

i'm good with living in CHI :D

Glenn Ellyn is typical low crim e, high priced houses, have that old school "downtown" area with ice cream shops and all that, its cool

Rockford made one of these lists once. I think it was rated 499th out of 500.

Oswego is a nice town...its just badly situated. Hard to get to and from.

Ehh the downtown is a little all over but to get from Oswego to nearly anywhere in the west or sw burbs is a pretty direct drive.

Pretty big hub and spoke town for roads.

Best Places to Live 2011 - Top 100: 1-25 - from MONEY Magazine

49 Carol Stream, IL
54 Glen Ellyn, IL
58 Oswego, IL
98 South Elgin, IL

4 Illinois towns in top 100. Just thought it was an interesting list and cool to see the Land of Lincoln represented.

I grew up all over DuPage, the entire county sucks. However, Glen Ellyn is an exception...and Oak Brook. How Carol Stream beat out such towns as St. Charles or Dundee is beyond me. I used to work in C.S....it's a dump.

BTW, do NOT speed there....that's all they do there is write tics....North Ave in particular.

Elmhurst=Florida. A nice place to visit, not somewhere you want to live unless you go to the college...which costs a fortune!.

North Ave is a death trap. Nearly ever side entrance or side street that exits North Ave in Carol Stream will have a cop doing radar there. I suppose with a low level crime rate and a bloated police budget, that's why they do what they do.

I also don't really know how Carol Stream is on there. They have no downtown and its just all industry and then residential housing. Hardly any commercial zones.

What? Glen Ellyn's downtown is poor. Chain restaurants. No originality. Nothing going on. No one in Glen Ellyn actually goes to their downtown.

Imagine that. You are a terrible poster in this forum, too.

Thanks

There are no chain restaurants in downtown Glen Ellyn...all are located on Roosevelt Rd.

Now what else will you manage to be wrong about today?.
