What a steal! Why didn't the Bears, or anyone else for that matter, jump in and offer more?

Missed out on a game-changer for our secondary. Ward would be the best player on the 2014 defense had we signed him.

It'll take a day to get over this one. I was hoping we got Ward for months now.

So now maybe we get Jairus Byrd for 6.5 million/year?

No? Ah damn.

There may have not been an opportunity for other teams. Sounds like he took a discount to play for a SB contender.

LOL. So we're paying Houston more than we could have had Ward for.

That's nothing. We could have matched that easily and beat it too. Especially once we cut Peppers and Peanut and Melton walk.

Reality Check - Ward probably wouldn't sign with us for that amount. Do people not understand how far the gap is perception wise between a team like the Broncos or Seahawks and the Bears?

Unfortunately, many don't get that.

And some don't get that young D linemen who play the run well and are pretty good at rushing the passer get more than strong safeties.

Name a safety getting more than DE's.

Most players chase the money and don't really care all that much about winning.

Especially those who hit the FA market.

Ward apparently was not one of them. He seemed to genuinely want to stay in Cleveland. When that didn't happen, he was quick to join a contender.

What?! A safety playing for a continual bottom feeder signs for a cap friendly deal with a team that went to the Super bowl last year, what the fuck is Ward thinking? What a twat.

Doesn't mean that some won't go to a contender for a chance to win. We aren't talking about most players. Just TJ Ward.

Eagles paid more per year for Jenkins. Crazy deal, but I heard a few teams were looking at Ward as an in the box safety only.

Heck, the Browns paid more for Whitner. What does that say?
