According to their criteria, FC Barcelona demolishes the Lakers (the article says "in America"). And Cristiano Ronaldo blows them both away (not a team).

The Bulls blow the doors off the Bears, in total worldwide popularity, but the Bears are far more popular in the US. I don't consider this method accurate at all for ranking popularity.

Yeah.. in the article title they say "in America" but in the banner thing, they specify "North American teams"

So I think they were just looking at which US teams were most popular, in America and around the world. "The popularity of our favorite sports teams can be adjudicated using a hundred different methods, from merchandise and tickets sold, to global team familiarity."

Although, it still can't be entirely accurate because a lot of people don't have Twitter, Facebook or anything like that.
