The thing is; I've never felt uncomfortable in any of the places I frequent in Chicago, well, perhaps with the exception of one of my buddy's old shithole apartment in what used to be an Armenian area on the north-west side (that neighborhood was just run down and dilapidated as hell). As long as you avoid a few areas the city as a whole is relatively well policed/low crime.

As far as I'm concerned all the little gangbangers can keep removing themselves from the gene pool at whatever rate they please. But, obviously, it pisses me off when they end up killing some little kid that has yet to have the chance to prove their worth (or lack their of) as a person.

And why do we give a **** what Kanye says anyway? I'm sure growing up in a nice middle-class suburb with a well educated (PhD) mother was rough and all...but why exactly should we care what that sycophantic asshat says?

I agree, I think it's such a big deal to everyone because the numbers started to drop and haven't been at 500 since 2008.

Plus I'm sure the media is making a big deal about it now more than they did before.

McCarthy and CPD should provide firearms training for gangbangers on the south side in an effort to have them target their adversaries as opposed to innocents.

Meh, I don't feel uncomfortable in most places. But if I'm in Englewood or Roseland, etc, I'd feel uncomfortable. But I guess that goes into the "few" areas you speak about.

As far as Kanye goes, nobody said you should give a ****. I posted it because it's true. It's in his lyrics to a song...It's not something he ran to the press to grab attention for. If you listen to the song "Murder to excellence" with Jay-Z, it's describes what's going on in the world we live in, especially Chicago. That's why I posted it, because it's relevant. Who cares if he's a douchebag? Don't listen to him then.

That actually wouldn't be a terrible idea Biz. It isn't as though you can just go out in the "hood" and practice at a range or anything; it's fairly likely that the first time any of these assholes take a shot is at another person. It really is baffling how often bystanders are hit.

Edit (reply to Zack): I just don't find anything that someone so self-centered (as Kanye obviously is) says to be relevant to anything but their own self interest, that includes lyrics (look at all the whining about relationships that Taylor Swift does). Nothing against your musical preferences or anything; I just don't believe that any word out of that dude's mouth is genuine in any way.

If some form of firearm safety is taught early enough in all public schools, I agree; fewer gangbangers would just "spray and pray" and maybe fewer of our cousins would blow their own head's off just fucking around too?



I'll be starting my 5 yr old grandson out with a daisy bb gun next weekend. It's the pump up kind so it'll work his upper body too (make him want a nap).
