This has no legs. Isn't California billions in debt? I doubt anyone is stupid enough to let a state that far in the red split.

The funny thing about it is it seems to be politically driven(what else is new?). The northern part leans heavily liberal, while the newly formed "South California" leans conservative.

If the "Big One" came, and California split off the coastline, would we need an East and West California too?

This makes as much as sense as the eastern half of Washington splitting off or the Upper Pennisula becoming a state. Though if you want to talk about the ultimate act of gerrymandering, that would have to be it to create a new state, with 2 senators in addition to the representatives, with the southern counties of California without LA.

So the guy wants to split off Souther California, except for Los Angeles. So basically he just wants to create an all-Republican state.

Every state has its fair share of problems. Most are dealing with budget and deficit issues. Both parties are at fault. Each state needs a revolution in the political realm. Someone like Paul to rejuvenate people with fresh ideas and a feasible plan for the future.

Illinois certainly has a colorful history politically. We have had 4 or 5 governors indicted in the past century. Chicago's motto of vote early and often. Definitely agree that we have little room to poke fun of other states. That said...

Texas education reforms under the Bush Administration that worked so great they were expanded to be the national program. That and the legislature trying to rewrite history textbooks to not include material they don't like make it tough to not poke fun.

Again this is one of the most blantant and extreme attempts at gerrymandering I can think of.

I say we just build a massive wall around the state and make it a giant prison. Theyre already beyond fucked in the head out there, and its dominated by anorexic lunatics who eat tofu, and ***** about cute animals, all the while cracked out on Meth.

I love how his exploratory campaign was trying to stir a buzz about Texas creating more jobs than anywhere else(*cough, natural gas boom and oil). But then every other economic statistic sucks. He is good proof to why there are bad conservatives, and good ones. Just like Obama being proof to having bad liberals and good ones.
