Watched some of his tape this morning.

Guy looked like he was playing at 380, but he still could move. Good lateral movement and base and very hard for DEs to work trough his size and length.

If he he can maintain 330lbs that he weighed at his pro day, and in an NFL strength and conditioning program with most of his meals prepared by the team I think he could easily compete with Mills at RT.

At a minimum this should light a fire under Mills.

Isnt his frame more suited for 380-420lbs?

There is a lot of physical potential. He looks suprisingly athletic or a guy who probably played close to 375lbs.

He has good length and plays pretty physically.

I read one scouts take that he could be a star if he could keep his weight around 335lbs.

Questions I Have

-What is his commitment and passion, he transferred multiple times and left the team once.

-16 reps, even with 34" arms is bad and shows that he does not spend enough time in the weight room.

-Can he play RT? The Bears seem set at OG with Long, Slauson and Ola as the back up.

People seriously need to get over the bench press reps as a measurable number for success in the NFL. As an example ASU offensive lineman Grey Ruegamer had min reps at 225-pounds and went on to have a nine year career as starting center and a consistent backup swing OL. He was a two-time starting Super Bowl champion at center and was key cog on many offensive lines. He may have had the lowest bench press total of any OL in combine history and yet he played nine years.

There is near zero correlation to the bench press and functional football strength.

I think he should get up to 500 lbs and give the bears a true "take the bottom off a defense" WR.

Transcript of Tayo's Conference Call

On working three jobs the year he wasn't playing football and why.

"I was working three jobs. I was working at Michael Kors. I was working at Sprint, selling phones and I was working at Champs Sports. I worked those three jobs because I knew had to help out and support my sister, who was in a hard time with my mom going away to have to do some time and all that type of stuff. She had trouble finding work. I just had to do that to keep my family afloat. It was just something I had to do. By going back to Utah I was able to again stay with my guardian family who I stayed with in high school when I moved to Utah. They were able to support me while I was able to support my sister."

Draft day is obviously an emotional time, so he was asked about that.

"It's a dream come true. I couldn't help but break down into tears when I heard the news. It's just a day at one point I didn't see coming. I didn't think it could happen for me, with the bad things that were going on in my life. Like I said, I told people before, you lose sight of the good things in life when you're down and you're struggling and you're trying to dig yourself out of a hole. Being in this position today, to be a Chicago Bear, is just a dream come true. I don't think anybody can write this up. This is something that's God given and it's just a blessing and amazing and I don't have words that can explain how I feel today. I'm just truly blessed and thankful for the Chicago Bears organization and all the good people that have been around me helping me get here to where I am today."

I like how Pace has drafted these intelligent, high-character guys who've worked hard to get to this point in their lives. Hopefully, that translates well onto the field.

There is a correlation between bench press reps and time spent in the gym.

That is all it really tests, which guys work out consistently and which guys do not.

It has no practical application to the football field, but 16 reps from an OLmen tells me that the guy is not in the weight room enough.

That being said it also means that he should have significant room to develop physically.
