The 85 quake was a true disaster though. There was never an accurate count. The official number of dead and injured was 3192 but estimates were up to 20,000. The property damages were somewhere in the 8 Billion range. I don't think I need to state how much 8 Billion dollars was in 1985. Shit was mad fucked up. It took 10 years to remove the majority of the debris. To this day there are still areas that show the devastation.

I didn't see you first post in here back on the 9th. Was your family effected by this most recent quake? I hope they are alright.

Nah I don't have anyone living in the disaster areas. They live in Guadalajara and Tepatitlan which are built on solid foundation. Mexico City is built on very soft unstable ground so nearly all earthquakes of any decent magnitude affect them badly. There are areas of Mexico though that have such high and frequent seismic activity that its practically suicide to live there yet you know how stubborn humanity is.

Don't lose hope Mexico. People need you guys.

My grandfather was stuck under rubble in a destroyed house for 12 days during WWII and made it. Just him telling us that story so many times, showing us a newspaper of him being found with a handful of other people 14 days after the attack with images and stories. When quakes like this happen, when buildings are destroyed in attacks, and it's just innocent people fighting to live until rescue, it hits close to home.

The truly sad part is that Mexicans across the country are pouring in with food, water, able bodies trying to help any way they can and the state governments are actually halting them from distributing aid directly. Instead they are forcing all the aid to be warehoused and are using the cops to literally halt anyone trying to freight in aid from driving away with it once they've been stopped. People are reporting that warehouses are packed full and no one is distributing the warehoused aid. This is beyond fucked up. Mexican government is so fucking corrupt they deserve a full out uprising of the people. I hope they get assassinated at this point. Celebrities and people from all across the globe are donating money, sending aid, sending people to help and all Mexican politicians combined haven't donated one single fucking cent and have impeded distribution of aid.

Their govt is so corrupt, and cartels run amok. I won't advocate a coup or assassination, but I hope things straighten out there somehow for the good people.
