From Jesse Rogers, these appear to be the lines tonight...

"Mayers/Smith/Olesz....Saad/Toews/ Stalberg...Brunette/Kane/Hossa... Frolik/Bolland/Bickell...Smith is at center and Kane as well"

Saad in again, that is his 5th straight game and it appears the Hawks are taking a long hard look at his situation. Good to see the line of Frolik/Bolland/Bickell together. Kane will be playing center which I can't wait to see (I'm not a fan of it, but I can't wait to see it because it is pre-season). Carcillo is out with the Flu.

Ehhh, not really.

Smith played center all four years in college at BC and some in the AHL. My only concern is I don't know how he is at faceoffs.

I get the feeling that if Smith is going to play for this team he might have to do so as a 4th line center to start...and then slide up if he continually plays well or if an injury happens. Q seems to be comfortable with Mayers on the wing, even though he can definitely play center. The nice thing about Smith on the 4th line, atleast in my opinion, is that I don't see him as a Kruger/Morin/Pirri type of player that has a high ceiling and would be better served playing in the AHL instead of on a 4th line in the NHL.

#Blackhawks' Marian Hossa will wear No. 38 on skates to honor Pavol Demitra through preseason and maybe a few games into regular season.

Mayers/Smith/Olesz should be interesting to watch because that could be the fourth line for some games. Good to see Frolik/Bolland/Bickell together because I have a feeling they'll be a monster line.

Detroit goal on a 2 man advantage. Crawford looked sharp but a redirect off a detroit skate put the puck in.

Yuck- Seabrook Meatball and Toews all caught below their own redline- detroit kicks it out front and score late in the 1st.

2-1 Wings. 1st int.

Is it just me or does it seem darker than usual inside the UC?

Keith Jones really likes the Montador signing and said the Hawks defense is their best asset. Pierre made the valid point that with the possible exception of Carcillo, all the guys the Hawks signed this off season are low maintenance guys that just come to play.

Gotta like hearing your D is your best asset when you also have forwards like the Hawks have.

No doubt, especially after getting knocked around like we did last season.
