The Blackhawks and Avalanche will meet Friday night for their third meeting this season. Their last contest October 22 went into OT with the Blackhawks losing in a shootout, five to four. The Blackhawks will be looking to end a two game losing streak after fighting back against the Flyers but eventually losing after giving up a goal with thirty-two seconds left in regulation…..bummer!

Avs are always tough.

Going to be hard to knock out the bad taste I am sure the players have in their mouths after the Flyers game. OR it should be incentive and drive them.

Crawford will be tested and the last thing he needs is for the defense infront of him to hang him out to dry the way they did to Emery the last game.

Just fucking win. A few guys on the team that need a wake up again. Leddy and Hossa come to mind right away. Kane broke his slump and hopefully that carries forward. If he is going to continue to play center he needs to keep producing on offense because his backcheck, although better than in past seasons, isn't a desirable one for a second line center.

SHAW!!!! HAYES!!!!

I really hope Q gets his head out of his ass and puts Hayes on the 2nd line.

Shaw did his job and proved himself (so far) on the 1st... time for Jimmy to see some primetime action on the 2nd.

Otherwise Qberg fails.

Going out on a limb here. Since there will be no time for any sort of practice, the team D issues do not get solved, Craw is hung out to dry and everyone on the O-boards blames it Crawford instead of Q.

I hope to the Flying Spaghetti monster I'm wrong, but holy farglesnot all of our skaters should be playing smarter than they have been!

Can we blame Q for the poor defense? I guess we can find ways but really as far as blueliners go he isn't working with much past the top 4 guys. And when players like Leddy have off nights there isn't much he can do pushing a guy like O'Donnell. Scott, Lepsito etc etc up to help out. This is Bowmans responsibility the blueline. I think Q does what he can best with his blueline players he has. At least he has kept Seabs and Keith together now. Bowmans gotta find a way to bring a supporting blueliner in. Esp with Montador out Q's hands are pretty much tied. We continue to see how important Campbell was here. Bowmans not going to find another Campbell but O'Donell, Lepsito, Scott certainly aren't going to do the trick. Montadore helps but with him out it really opens up the hole. Like any team when we suffer injuries in areas where there are already question marks and holes they just get bigger.

It would be nice if the Hawks actually could play trap hockey here and there. I know that's an evil word..BUT games like we saw tonight when the Hawks tied the game a little trap capabalities to hold for a point would have been nice. Not looking for the Hawks to play 60 minutes of trap hockey and they certainly don't need to. But sometimes the trap is called for and it would be nice if the Hawks had the ability to do it better.

Not sure if Q can be held 100% responsible for the lack of defensive forward help either (which overall isn't that bad). He isn't going to be able to get Bickell to use his size (thats a lost cause), Kanes never going to be a back checking machine.

I feel a lot comfy going into the game with young guys like Hayes though. We saw the "fight for a job" spirit from him and Shaw tonight. This team needs a little of that right now. I can see Hayes having another good go tomorrow. Waiting to see how the blueline performs will be interesting again.

They better win and in convincing fashion. If not then I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be a very long month of January.

Yeah Hayes has played himself into a promotion if you ask me. But hawks lose in SO as usual against the Avs

My complaint is not on someone getting better personnel, we know that is on Bowman the Younger...that horse has been beaten and whipped.

The problem is the guys we already have that we *know* can play D. Toews was lacking in the back end. Both Seabs and Keith were. Hossa was bad. Bolland was abyssimal. Sharp was not only bad this past game but his blown coverage (when Scott, of all people, was in perfect coverage) lead to the 3rd Edmonton goal. That is a coaching issue. That is on Q. IMHO there is no reason that most of our fwds, who have proven they can play defense, along with the majority of the blue-liners, can't tighten things up and actually play a defensive system.

We can point out we need a top-4 d-man or a #2C that is capable in the backend until we're blue in the face, but with who we have right now there should be no excuses for everyone skating back behind the blue line and thinking it's Buffalo Wild Wings where they can kick back, have a beer, and watch both Emery and Crawford make desparation saves.

I think this team would be amazing if we had another coach here.

I am very interested to see the lines that come out here, we'll start to get evidence that either confirms or denies that "showcasing" theories.

I'm not going to put all the blame on Q, but when it's his decision to play OD... EVER... keep shifting Leddy when he's having an off night because he has to with OD on the ice, and not settling on line combinations back there. Then yes, I think he can be blamed for some of the problems on D.

Agreed. I think Q is not so much a bad coach but I think he's outlived his usefulness here. Right now I think the boys need someone more of a taskmaster, and too bad Herb Brooks is dead.

JT needs to be player coach.

R.I.P. Herb, he is now a hockey god.

Why is it Q's fault if the players don't get up to play?? Shouldn't the players be responsible for giving 100% effort?

Yes, but it's clear OD is incappable yet he keeps putting him out there.

Well, to be fair, OD was playing his former team and stayed off the score-sheet anyway so it's not like he was a major factor in the game. Montador is injured, so your replacements are Lepisto and Scott, both of which would not of effected the outcome of last game anyway.

The onus last night is on our star players and their inability to backcheck and work hard defensively against a good team that they met in the Finals not even 2 years ago. It was a lazy game for them in the defensive end and they only seemed to turn it up when they had the puck.

Scott wasn't needed? I think with Carcillo out I would have really wanted Scott out there. Would have been nice if having Scott could have stopped shaw from bleeding on the ice after the first goal but I bet that would have happened anyway. That looked like some sort of planned showcasing thing. Meh, I thought he got a good shot in, can't believe he bled so much from that little shot he took. Sucks for him, guess he won't be fighting till it heals up.
